The Role / Position Overview
This role will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the Internal Control & Insurance Manager in the management of FT's global internal control framework and insurance activities. This role will also ensure active collaboration with various departments in identifying, streamlining, and improving controls for smooth operations. This role will be an integral part of FT's worldwide change management process.
To regularly review the internal control framework.
Complete weekly and monthly control testing, sampling and providing feedback sessions.
Reporting findings to the Internal Control Manager for action/discussion.
Working closely with the Internal Control Manager and Finance teams to implement strong practical controls and understand and resolve outstanding issues. Particularly assessing the adequacy of controls in addressing our key business risks, and the efficiency in which we operate them.
Working with the Internal Control Manager and the wider Finance to ensure adequate and up to date documentation is maintained by Business Process Owners for all processes and controls, by way of process walk throughs and reviews across finance on a regular basis
To oversee the day-to-day operation of our key controls, working with BPO’s to ensure key controls are performed on a timely basis and process changes do not compromise our control framework
To work closely with the Internal Control Manager, IT Compliance and the Finance Systems team to ensure appropriate system access for all business users, with a focus on critical users and segregation of duty monitoring. This will include regular auditing of the system and reporting/discussing finding with the Internal Control Manager.
To work with colleagues throughout the business on implementing recommendations made by internal and external auditors, ensuring recommendations are adopted and implemented on a timely basis.
To support the Insurance manager in coordinating the FT’s annual insurance cover, working with the brokers and colleagues across finance to ensure accuracy of cover
Assist the Insurance Manager in handling claims and assisting colleagues where necessary.
Assistance and support to ensure the Finance team complies with Business Continuity planning.
To work closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure departmental synergies and assisting in formation and amendment in companywide policies.
To work with colleagues in Finance and the wider business community on the delivery of change projects. These may include; changes to finance and business systems, including documentation, implementation of new systems, changes to existing processes, co-ordinating non finance activity
Provide regular stakeholder reporting on project status
Other adhoc duties as advised by the Internal Control Manager
Required Skills / Experience
A technically strong, finance professional ideally with an internal / external audit background.
Strong commercial acumen, the foresight to ask the right questions and the skills to work effectively with other areas of the finance function such as Tax & Treasury are essential.
Good interpersonal skills enabling the individual to influence and persuade finance and non finance colleagues. The individual will need to build relationships with stakeholders within the business at senior management level to produce key deliverables.
A Self starter with the ability to identify key issues and present them to the relevant audience appropriately
Enthusiasm, resilience, drive and commitment, with the ability to work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
