Job Introduction

As a political researcher you will be writing background briefs for BBC journalists on a range of issues relating to UK politics and Parliament. You will answer queries from programmes and the newsdesk on a daily basis and work closely with the BBC's political correspondents. You will contribute research to BBC News Analysis and the politics section of the BBC website.

Good writing skills and an ability to explain complex issues clearly are essential. Skill in creating and manipulating data in spreadsheets is a great advantage.

Role Responsibility

As a Political Researcher you will be writing background briefs for BBC journalists on a range of issues relating to UK politics and Parliament. You will answer queries from programmes and the Newsdesk on a daily basis and work closely with the BBC's political correspondents. You will also contribute research to Reality Check and other online/digital content.

Are you the right candidate?

You'll need an in-depth knowledge of UK politics and Parliament with an ability to explain complex issues simply and clearly. Excellent writing skills are essential as well as anability to work with numerical data and statistics. You'll need to be ableto work under pressure to tight deadlineswith a demonstrableknowledge of the range of BBC political output.
