We are looking for a Legal and Business Affairs Executive to join the Global Distribution team.
This role entails…
Provide legal and business affairs support on a range of contracts and commercial deals including sales, licensing and distribution deals; In television scripted and non scripted programmes in sales territories as designated by the Head of Legal & Business Affairs, Global Distribution from time to time but primarily EMEA. To assist with other business affairs activities within the department as required.
Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and executing licence agreements for sales of programmes in various territories throughout EMEA.
Assisting with and undertaking any other activities within the department as reasonably required.
Preparing and executing amendments to existing concluded licence agreements.
Establishing contact with customers in designated sales territories; developing and establishing relationships with customers and the relevant sales executives with a view to developing close working relationships and an understanding of the territories concerned.
Dealing with ancillary matters pursuant to licence agreements.
Undertaking related enquiries and research, including rights issues, programme information, materials availability, etc. in relation to the above.
Attending departmental and inter-departmental meetings to discuss departmental and company objectives, commercial issues and sales tracking, administrative issues and legal issues relating to the company.
Liaising with the Contracts team to confirm availability, ensure consistency with PARIS and that all contracts properly entered on the system.
Attending routine meetings with line manager to discuss workload, ongoing negotiations and issues arising therefrom (where relevant) and deals concluded, including (where undertaken) proposed variations to ITVGD standard terms as well as any contentious matters arising and their progress to resolution.
What do I need to get this role/job?
- Law Degree or equivalent, qualified lawyer preferred
- Strong technical commercial law experience
- Proven track record of concluding deals successfully and quickly
- A background in either television or film licensing, commercial contracts or intellectual property.

- Understanding of breakdown of rights in television or films would be an advantage
- A team player and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multi -task and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to take a proportionate and solutions focused approach.
- Able to resolve problems under pressure and make accurate assessments of critical issues.
- Ability to quickly establish excellent working relationships with commercial and legal colleagues.
- European language skills would be advantageous.
- Previous In House experience would be an advantage.
