About the Role

We offer a great place to develop; the Library Assistant posts will be based across our service providing high quality information, including, health, leisure, local and community Council Information. Come join us in making our great libraries and users even greater!

As a Library Assistant, you:
  • Are responsible for day-to-day delivery of library services, maintaining a high level of customer care and assisting customers with queries regarding library activities, stock and other associated library services.
  • Provide accurate high-quality information to help and support the health and economic wellbeing of customers.
  • Support informal learning and reader development by promoting stock, signposting to appropriate information providers and coaching customers on, for example, basic IT skills for adults and children.

We are looking for pro-active, customer-focused people who can use their initiative and can work independently, as well as being part of a highly motivated team. You will need to have an enthusiastic, outgoing and positive approach and demonstrate empathy and discretion. You should have:
  • Previous experience and / or understanding of providing high-quality customer-focused service.
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • IT skills which you are willing to demonstrate, and share with others
  • Excellent levels of numeracy and literacy
We are looking to fill several part-time 18, 11 and 7 hour per week roles, across sites across the service. The 18 hour roles will be over a two-week work pattern and include alternate Saturdays with a weekend enhancement; (see example),11 & 7 hour posts are weekends.

18hr week: Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun

Week 1: 8:45am - 7pm 8:45am - 2pm OFF 8:45am - 7pm 8:45am - 2pm 9am - 5pm OFF

Week 2: 8:45am - 7pm 8:45am - 2pm 9am - 5pm 8:45am - 7pm 8:45am - 2pm OFF OFF

11hr week:Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun
