FT Strategies is the FT’s boutique consultancy - leveraging the FT’s expertise to help clients grow their digital revenue and optimise customer engagement. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious individual to join this high growth start-up within the Financial Times.

You will be joining a fast-paced and dynamic work environment as we scale our consulting business. You will be central to that growth, shaping how it succeeds.

You’ll be an early team member of a funded startup, with a proven proposition within an established institution - an extremely rare opportunity.

You will drive our mission, helping global clients develop digital strategies that transform both their businesses and the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading key client engagements and teams - virtually and in person. You will formally manage 2 - 3 team members and lead internal strategic growth priorities including:

  • Client Leadership: Creating and developing trust-based client relationships; Communicating and influencing effectively across audiences; Empowering and challenging client leaders and teams 

  • Impactful problem solving: Comfortably work with data and ambiguity, effectively structuring and solving problems with efficiency. Delivering insightful recommendations and solutions that deliver tangible business results, asking intelligent questions and challenging assumptions

  • Inspiring Leadership: Inspiring excellence and role modelling strengths. Contributing to a healthy high performing team culture and selflessly collaborating with colleagues

  • Driven Entrepreneurship: Takes the initiative to cultivate client opportunities that meaningfully contribute towards our business goals. Builds value from idea to delivery, and takes ownership for business performance

  • Knowledgeable practitioner: Brings valuable knowledge and skills to deliver value for teams and clients from across the FT and wider industry. 

Required Skills / Experience 

An experienced relationship management, leadership and consulting toolkit, including:

  • Confident in cultivating new and developing existing relationships to generate significant client work

  • Ability to use hypothesis-driven problem solving to develop solutions for the most challenging strategic problems

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to visualise complex data and share findings using structured storytelling

  • Comfortable facilitating small or large group sessions including in person or virtual workshops

  • Strong analytical skills, such as the ability to analyse complex data and build financial models, drawing key insights from disparate information

  • Project management skills, able to manage multiple work streams and complex tasks across the team and group

  • Team Player able to support and coach clients and colleagues, resilient and able to work independently and well as a team

About you

  • Experience at a strategy / management consultancy in a client-facing role and with significant business development experience

  • Passionate about working in a startup, with a high-growth mindset and an ambition to play a leading role in successfully scaling a business

  • Familiarity with digital transformation and customer centred business models

  • Passionate about using data in intelligent ways to create a competitive advantage Startups

  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills with high attention to detail

  • Intellectual curiosity, adaptability and strong interpersonal skills

  • Preferred: Strong previous experience working with clients within one of media, finance, private equity, or technology sectors

  • Optional: Fluency in another European language
