About the opportunity

Department Description

The Technology Risk Oversight team is a 2nd Line team within Non-Financial Risk Oversight and provides independent oversight and monitoring of cyber risks globally, including Information Security and Technology Failure risks. Most of our time is spent working with the central technology department, but we also engage with users across Fidelity, and with other technology providers.

Our aim is to ensure Fidelity continues to provide clients and other stakeholders with the safe, secure and available technology they need to achieve their goals. This is achieved by questioning, reviewing and challenging, and by providing evidence-based actionable insight and independent guidance, in order to promote the identification and reduction of cyber risks.

Purpose of your role

The focus of each role of the two roles is to provide risk oversight in either Technology Resiliency or over Policies and Controls Assurance. Successful candidates will report to the relevant Senior Manager located in India and will support the development of the Oversight function predictive risk capabilities and be responsible for the identification of valuable risk insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use and analyse large dataset to better understand potential risks, concerns and outcomes of strategic business decisions.
  • Provide aggregated relevant risk assessments and insights, including identification of trends, concentration and other factors.
  • Create engaging reports, summaries, presentations and process documents to display results.
  • Identify and monitor internal and external data points that may affect the risk level of the firm's strategy.
  • Collaborate with the General Council Operation team to develop systems and processes for gathering and storing data for future analytic projects.
  • Assessing and actively supporting the enhancement of the control environment to prevent, identify, manage and mitigate risks.
For the Technology Resiliency role, the focus of these responsibilities is to help ensure our technology remains appropriately resilient and with sufficient redundancy, such that we are able to avoid and recover from technology failure, and to learnt from the past and to use external knowledge.

For the Policy & Controls Assurance role, the focus of these responsibilities is to help ensure our documented policies and procedures are appropriate, providing the principles and controls likely to achieve our aims in an efficient manner. In addition, that these controls are effective, through sampling and review of controls testing carried out by the 1st Line of Defence.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and other Office applications, as well as knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or other data visualisation and analysis applications - sourcing, manipulating and curating data is a key part of these roles.
  • Five or more years of experience in a technology or a technology governance-related field - you do not need to be an expert in technology resilience or in policies and controls, but a genuine interest in pursuing a career in one of these areas is essential.
  • An interest in working in the financial industry and in risk, helping us to solve the problems faced by our clients and to help manage risk within the company, but prior experience in the finance industry or in risk is not a requirement.
  • Organised with good attention to detail, and a demonstrable ability to prioritize tasks and meet daily deadlines for projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, to inform managers and other stakeholders of results.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems and identify viable solutions.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills with a demonstrable ability to understand new analytical concepts.

Highly desirable:
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages, such as SQL and Python.
  • A general interest in technology, or knowledge of any specific technologies or in technology in general.
  • Presentation skills, including public speaking and presentation creation using PowerPoint or a similar program.
  • For the Policy & Controls Assurance role, previous work in writing or reviewing policies and other documentation, and carrying out controls assessments and assurance work.
  • For the Technology Resiliency role, previous work in service or incident management or in technology disaster recovery or business continuity.
