In Channel 4's marketing team we help viewers discover programmes they'll love, as well as focusing on brand-building activations.


An exciting new role in the Brand & Marketing Operations Team, the Marketing Programmes Manager is the all-seeing eye, the central knowledge holder within Marketing, responsible for maintaining the Marketing masterplan, keeping the plan and centralised projects list current, ensuring the wider Marketing, Creative, & Digital Team understand how all of our projects interrelate and contribute to driving our metrics. With an eye across all activities you spot interdependencies and opportunities. You manage the project funnel, with a particular focus on forward planning, making sure the marketing leadership team have the knowledge needed to prioritise and allocate resources upstream. You promote best working practices, maintaining an ever-growing body of learnings from our marketing tests and embedding efficient ways of working within the whole department. You will also own external brand relationships with partners such as Sky & Netflix.

  • Central knowledge holder within the Marketing Team, responsible for maintaining the Marketing Masterplan, keeping it regularly updated, communicating progress, tracking results, flagging dependencies and opportunities.
  • Managing the Marketing Projects List, recommending how resources should be allocated based on proactive project intelligence scoping, tracking the status of incoming projects until they reach the point where they are given go-ahead. Using research to gain insight that contextualises upcoming projects and helps us prioritise. Tracking & reporting on progress against the agreed measures.
  • Leading the process around forward planning for the annual Marketing plan, ensuring best practice and learnings are brought to the fore in the planning processes. Preparing for an effective forward planning process by gathering and assessing all relevant information in advance, including upstream research to guide decision-making.
  • Partnering with the project leads in 4creative and 4Studio to ensure projects are fully understood, that timings, budgets, deliverables, targets, and expectations are clear and effectively communicated. Joining the dots between the Marketing, Creative, and Digital teams, especially on major programmes such as the Paralympics.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relations with all teams across the organisation whose activities touch our customers, including Comms, Product, Scheduling and other departments, gathering information upstream about all projects in development, which may be likely to need Marketing support
  • Leading the marketing team's relationship with external content services, working with Netflix, Sky and other Owned & Operated partners to identify priorities and marketing opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain a log of all our marketing tests, so there is one central marketing knowledge hub that captures our learnings, accessible to all. Ensure that marketing test learnings are cascaded effectively and everyone in the team understands the results and changes in best practice.
  • Leading the optimisation of working processes within the Marketing team, evolving and improving our overall effectiveness. Regularly reviewing our internal processes, including post-campaign analysis, campaign wash-ups, embedding a culture of continual refinement & improvement within the department.
  • Organising brand-related aspects of our quarterly away days for the Marketing Creative Digital department to plan, learn and get inspired. This is likely to include developing training based on the programme learnings and best practice.
  • As this is a new team, one of the first responsibilities will be to hire, manage and develop a direct report.
  • Proven experience in a Project Management role within a Marketing team
  • Proven project management skills, showcasing organised and skilled management across multiple work streams
  • Good understanding of data and experience of marketing testing processes
  • Data maintenance experience (entry and analysis) monitoring progress, identifying gaps, deviations, spotting opportunities to collaborate and cross-pollinate
  • Excellent understanding and interest in technology, with wide experience of digital productivity tools and cloud-based solutions that help teams work efficiently
  • Natural communicator, expert in building relationships across complex matrix organisations
  • A multi-tasker, highly adaptable, used to embracing challenges, productive in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and develop others
