The Facebook office in Cork, Ireland (formerly Oculus Research) is currently recruiting for an experienced LED Test Engineer. At Facebook, we are developing the future of AR/VR displays. As a MicroLED Test Engineer, you will help steer a multi-disciplinary team developing and introducing new µLED displays, while determining and improving the performance of the product and its underlying technology. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and able to find ways to help our cross functional teams to be more efficient.

MicroLED Test Engineer Responsibilities


  • Define and implement test methods and equipment for characterizing and testing µLED devices and arrays

  • Lead vendor and in-house development of measurement equipment, software, and integration

  • planning, project management, and hands-on demonstration.

  • Influence design, process, product, test and/or system solutions to meet display and system performance / yield goals

  • Drive root cause analysis efforts concerning failed product to determine and implement corrective actions

  • Lead small cross-functional and cross-company groups of engineers on multi-disciplinary technical projects to solve complex test/characterization issues. Expect to travel to partners 2-4 times each year.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of experience in the optoelectronics test/characterization field is essential

  • Excellent understanding of and experience with optoelectronics device operation and measurement

  • Substantial programming experience, esp. related to equipment control, data analysis, machine vision, with Python preferred.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with III-V optoelectronics measurement, physics, and evaluation.

  • Experience with display driver electronics and interface protocols

  • Design and execution of experiments, data analysis and interpretation (á la JMP, Python, SQL, Exensio, MATLAB, Mathematica)

  • Experience with a range of measurement and failure analysis equipment/methods

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information to non-experts

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational skills
