The Business Intelligence team at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) is seeking an Applied Scientist to be based in the EU Headquarters in Luxembourg. As key member of the Business Intelligence team in ATS you will be responsible for designing algorithmic solutions based on data and mathematics that will help to understand trends, forecast future events, automate solutions, that will all contribute to anticipate solutions to problems, give insights to the business, simplify and enhance the business process across ATS.

You will be reporting to a Senior Manager, working intensely with their project and development team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; will be a creative and an analytical problem solver with the opportunity to fulfil the Amazon motto to "Work Hard. In this job you will
- Design and prototype models that encapsulate complex business operations.
- Build models that analyse trends in data to help management in decision making or to solve business problems.
- Be a data science subject matter expert, providing expertise to different teams across ATS and at different levels.
- Be an active part in the delivery of the BI end to end solutions that includes data gathering, modelling, and front end development in cooperation with other team members.
Build data visualization to provide insight, explainability, conclusions and potential actions proactively.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Masters Degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent experience
· + 3 years of previous experience in a research science, ML, or data scientist role and a track record of strong statistical analysis and building ML or DL models
· Strong background and experience using Python, R or/and Java
· Experience using ML libraries, such as scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Caffe, mllib...
· Experienced in using multiple statistical/data science methodologies to solve complex business problems.
· Experienced in handling large data sets using SQL and databases in a business environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong ability to interact, communicate, present, and influence within multiple levels of the organization
· Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· PHD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field;
· 5+ year of experience in business intelligence and statistical analysis role;
· Experience with SQL and scripting languages such as Python;
· Extensive experience with Tableau or other BI tools;
· Proficiency in MS Excel;
· Experience in building/designing relational databases, reporting/BI platforms or leveraging statistics for data analytics;
· Experience in modern data warehousing techniques (dimensional data modelling, ETL workflow development, etc.);
· Experience developing front-end software, with a strong grasp in one or more relevant front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js, etc.
· Demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers or software developers in all aspects of their engineering duties.
