About the team:



Housing Development and Regeneration team, one of the top teams in the country, sits within the Real Estate Group, the third largest Real Estate practice in the UK.



The team comprises 9 partners and 41 lawyers, supported by a team of paralegals, advising on all aspects of residential development and housing led regeneration. We act for house builders, mixed use developers, affordable housing providers, landowners (public and private) and investors in the residential sector. The housing sector continues to be a key area of investment for the government, supported by opposition parties, and demographic demand requires a continuing increase in supply. Our large, experienced team and excellent client base has a proven track record of resilience in the downturn and has enabled us to capitalise on housing sector growth.



Expertise:



The team’s areas of residential development expertise includes:

· acquisitions, disposals and exchanges of land and property, including serviced parcels;

· overage arrangements, and security;

· strategic work – option agreements, promotion agreements and hybrids;

· collaboration, consortium and joint venture arrangements, with related site assembly;

· planning and infrastructure agreements;

· building licences and development agreements;

· development management agreements;

· mixed use schemes, with related structuring advice;

· private rented sector;

· institutional investment in the residential sector;

· investor acquisitions and disposals of residential portfolios;

· funding agreements


Main Purpose of Job: Our business is growing and we are looking for a Paralegal / Senior Paralegal to join the Site Set Up to assist the team in drafting the sales documentation for new residential development schemes, managing existing schemes until completion and supporting the plot team with queries and enquiries.






Main Duties and Responsibilities:



The role will have a residential property focus and will be based in the site set-up part of the team. You will initially be supporting the existing site set-up team members on new and existing developments in relation to:
Drafting the precedent plot documentation for new residential developments
The appointment of managing agents and embedded management companies
Transfers of public open space/communal areas to management companies
Infrastructure agreements and associated easements
Supporting the Plot Team during the plot sales process
Any other reasonable duties delegated by any Partner, Senior Manager of the firm or Practice Operations Manager.









Qualifications




Key Skills and Experience:



Working in an inclusive, sharing and collaborative culture you will be expected to play your part in ensuring the continuing success and growth of the team. Experience of working in a legal environment would be preferable but not essential.



You should be able to:


Understand property related deeds and documents with strong experience of drafting Leases, Transfers and other property related deeds and documents.
Remain calm under pressure and prioritise your workload effectively.
Work in a team environment (this may include working as part of a bigger project team) and support your colleagues.
Carry out title reviews and interpret searches, legal reports and do research and analysis, deal with enquiries.
Communicate appropriately and confidently at all levels within the team and the wider business as well as with clients, agents and other parties in person, by phone, letter, email or other communication means.
Use your initiative to solve problems, resolve queries and be proactive.
Manage financial hygiene.



You should have:


Previous experience of working in the residential development new build sector ideally – however any candidate with experience in the residential property sector, having worked in a similar role, who can meet the other criteria in this specification, is encouraged to apply.
Strong organisation and communication skills.
Attention to detail and numeracy skills.
Good interpersonal skills and confidence in liaising with others.
Effective Time management skills.
Excellent Keyboard, IT and data entry skills.
Problem solving abilities.
Enthusiasm.
Project management skills would be beneficial but not essential.
