Partner Engineering is a highly technical team that works with our strategic partners to integrate Facebook messaging products into their mobile platforms, apps, and devices. In this unique partner-facing engineering team, you will use your excellent technical and business skills to deliver platform products that drive value for our community, our partners, and Facebook.
The team plays a critical role in the success of our platform and products through a variety of activities, such as building APIs and helping mobile operators configure their systems. Our team has played an instrumental role in the launch and scaling of many connectivity-related initiatives here at Facebook.
As a Partner Engineer you will handle the technical relationship with our partners. You will work closely with the Facebook partner managers to draft the partnership roadmap to provide affordable, reliable and fast Internet access.

Partner Engineer, Mobile and Connected Devices Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert in supporting and implementing technical integrations with Mobile Operators and their APIs with Facebook Operators Solutions products, including planning, specification, implementation, testing and roll-out of the integration

  • Collaborate with external partners, internal Engineering and Product partners within Facebook connectivity teams

  • Identify and surface insights using metrics on product usage to increase adoption and provide new solutions that address the needs of our partners

  • Troubleshoot partners technical issues in real-time in cooperation with their engineering and 2nd level operations teams and work with internal technical teams on resolving those issues

  • Use a broad range of technical and soft skills to build productive relationships with our partners, and independently resolve complex technical and business needs while contributing to partner documentation

  • Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while sustaining self-driven productivity

  • Guide workflow changes, and gain consensus from stakeholders while driving to a solution

  • Respond and maintain effective communication with industry partners and internal stakeholders

  • Work with partners to develop a long-term strategic plan, grounded on business objectives, and manage partners during feature launches

  • Understand organizational structure and cross functional team dynamics and is able to get support from those teams as needed

  • Help scale programs by writing whitepapers, documentations, samples and other materials that can be used by Operators for integrating with Facebook

  • Build and manage strong working relationships with technical counterparts. Mentor and share knowledge with peers, creating positive atmosphere amongst team

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time (No travel currently due to COVID-19)

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a software engineer, solutions architect or partner/sales engineer

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent degree/experience

  • Software development skills with experience building software developed in (at least one) PHP, Python, C/C++, C# or Java. Experience working with RESTful API and general service oriented architectures

  • Deep understanding of the full web technology stack and/or mobile (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, RESTful API)

  • Experience with software design and architecture

  • Experience in communicating with technical and business audiences

  • Prior experience in enterprise level API integration (planning, specification, implementation and testing)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a partner engineer or integration engineer (or similar partner-facing engineering role) in the telecommunications or IT space is desired.

  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP

  • Experience working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments

  • Experience in a Unix/Linux environment.
