Job Title - Plant Operator
Salary - £18,000 plus Veolia benefits *listed below
Location - Area 6 Oceanic Way, Marchwood Industrial Park, Southampton, SO40 4BD
Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30
Additional hours paid as overtime. Weekend/out of hours work may be required at times but is on a voluntary basis.
What you’ll do
The Plant Operator will be responsible for the operation of the sites package boiler and associated equipment and to discharge all bulk liquid from onsite vehicles and barges to their allocated disposal points. The Plant Operator will receive full training of duties required.
The Plant Operator will conduct all site inductions for contractors and visitors daily and will assist in improving quality, safety, health and environment standards effectively. You will report any faults on the plant, equipment or infrastructure to the management team, and you will assist with any maintenance of the site as instructed.
The Plant Operator will carry out emptying and filling of site storage tanks and will carry out treatment and transfer of waste operations as directed by the site chemists. You will be operating the Forklift Truck, training will be provided for this.
The experience you will need
A team player with a flexible approach and able to work on own initiative
English and Maths qualifications
Experience in mechanical engineering
A full UK Driving Licence
Experience with spreadsheets and word processing documents desirable
Previous background working in a wastewater treatment plant or other processing plants, although full training will be given.

Where you’ll work
You will work as a team member in a multifunctional site consisting of a Water Treatment Plant, Oil Recovery Plant, Marine section with two Barges, a Hazardous Waste Transfer Station and HGV section.
There are 42 people on-site and you will have the opportunity to work in other departments and seek new career opportunities.
