The person

  • you have an in depth understanding of politics.
This role would also suit someone who is keen to take steps into leadership and there will be plenty of development opportunity if this is your ambition.

The role

The successful candidate will play a significant role in the PCN Network team to develop and deliver our policy work. This involves gathering the views of members, facilitating the sharing of best practice between them, and translating national guidance into easy-to-read briefings. The role will also have a key function in building external relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

On a day to day basis the post holder will:
  • Project manage and deliver policy implementation products from the PCN network such as its briefings, articles, roundtables and consultation responses
  • Provide expertise and a good understanding of current primary care policy within the team
  • Support the PCN team to influence policy design at a national level and implementation locally
  • Work on specific policy projects on a responsive basis, individually or working collaboratively with the wider policy team
  • Work with Communications colleagues to feed into press statements which are developed by the PCN Network to respond to enquiries from the media or proactively promote our work or that of the networks.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with external organisations to develop joint policy projects and products where appropriate.
  • Ensure connectivity and provide relevant content into the NHS Confederation's core policy work programme, and wider stakeholders to ensure the PCN voice connects to system level conversations or lobbying activity as part of the confederation's integrated member offer.
  • Represent the PCN Network at external events and meetings, promoting network activity, member products and keeping in touch with the work of key stakeholders

The PCN network works closely with other NHS Confederation directorates - policy, membership, and communications to produce publications, briefings and thought leadership pieces to highlight important policy issues facing members and to help spread learning. It also works closely with other NHS Confederation constituencies - Integrated Care Systems, Community Providers, Mental Health on a wide range of issues relevant to our members. Throughout the work of the Network is driven by the needs and priorities of our members.
