Position Overview

The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for developing and leading the strategy of owned brand communication channels, Earned Media (Product PR), Events and Experiences and co-lead Influencer strategy. The PR Manager will be accountable for creative concepting, brand storytelling and expanding brand awareness through community building and experiential programming and will lead external agency relationship.

This position requires a deep understanding of Uniqlo's LifeWear philosophy, product knowledge, business goals, the customer, competition, and related industry trends. The ultimate goal of this role is to inform the market on who Uniqlo is, what Uniqlo offers, and how we stand apart from our competitors.

Job Description:
  • Develop and maintain marketing communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics for Canadian market
  • Create & execute innovative press and influencer strategies to promote all seasonal collections and brand awareness, in line with business objectives to achieve target metrics such as impressions, engagement, customer acquisition/retention and sales conversion.
  • Develop media relations strategy, seeking high level placements in print, broadcast and online media
  • Cultivate and maintain media and influencer relationships to maximize brand exposure and build community around LifeWear brand
  • Manage new media inquiries and interview requests
  • Create and adapt content for press releases
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting UNIQLO customers to make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding those concerns
  • Work closely with Global PR team members to adapt Global PR campaigns for the Canadian market
  • Manage local PR Agency
  • Other responsibilities as needed
Desired Skills and Experiences:
  • 5 + years of experience in public relations at brand or agency required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications, marketing, or related field
  • Proven track record creating and executing successful public relations campaigns in different markets
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with fashion editors, journalists, bloggers, and influencers
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively
  • An understanding of the global media landscape within the fashion/lifestyle arena
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Fashion GPS, Cision
  • Experience and proficiency using social networking platforms
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; ability to pitch
  • Ability to read, write, and speak French considered a valuable asset
