Principal Mechanical Engineer
Bespak’s in-house Innovation team consists of around 40 colleagues working in partnership with our customers to bring new ideas to the market and create a new generation of drug delivery devices. At the Innovation Centre we get to see our designs go from early concept stage right through to manufacture for patient use.
The Mechanical Engineer (ME) role is structured from entrant to principal level, however at all levels you will carry out a range of engineering activities for innovation projects to identify, design and develop new drug delivery products.
At Principal level you will be a very credible and experienced medical device Mechanical Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert and may have a small team to line manage.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer level your role will include:
• Leading, planning and executing project work-streams and projects
• Directing and mentoring work completed by less experienced colleagues (such as level I and II team members) to support their personal development and ensure that tasks are completed in line with project plans
• Drafting (client) technical reports and design documentation for review ensuring that they are accurate and informed.
• Liaising with customers regarding product development as well as gathering market and user requirements and technical specifications for new products.
As a Mechanical Engineer you know how things work and can understand a device operation from first principles and explain this to technical and non-technical people.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer you will have significant experience gained in the medical device industry and will have knowledge of the ISO 13485 quality system.
We are looking for you to have managed cross-disciplinary teams in a new product/concept development environment and have undertaken the role of Project Manager on technical product development projects.
You have developed complex injection moulded components, mechanisms and products and have expert knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes including high volume production of plastic components.
You are a people person – able to communicate effectively and with ease across the organisation. You are passionate about developing others and are able to coach, develop and mentor colleagues within the team.
