Facebook is looking for a Privacy Policy Manager to join our EMEA Privacy Policy team. The team's mission is to develop privacy-protective and innovative responsible approaches to personal data that help Facebook to bring the world closer together and improve people's lives. The ideal candidate for this role has experience working in a privacy public policy setting, or in government or a regulatory agency in roles closely related to digital technologies. They should have the ability to create support for policy proposals across a wide range range of stakeholders. They should also have strong skills, both in drafting strategies for internal audiences as well as persuasive public submissions to industry groups, policymakers, and regulators. Candidates should be able to work in a decentralised team and in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with colleagues around the world. Candidates should be driven to develop innovative, creative and responsible responses to privacy policy challenges. Privacy Policy Associate Manager, Innovation Responsibilities

  • Identify, monitor and analyse privacy issues affecting Facebook in the EU, as well as spotting relevant links to issues in the wider EMEA region regarding AI, AR/VR and research

  • Develop proactive strategies to solve policy challenges

  • Work closely with cross-functional global teams on a range of policy issues, including strategically drafting submissions and engagement plans for local policy audiences

  • Engage and build relationships with relevant civil servants, policymakers, and NGOs

  • Build coalitions with other organisations to advance Facebook's privacy policy goals

  • Design and lead innovative strategies and campaigns to shape the public and political climate of opinion around Facebook

  • Work with the global team to develop Facebook policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years work experience, including experience managing strategic outreach with diverse stakeholders within policy advocacy or in a government position

  • Master's degree in law and/or public affairs and/or international relationships with a focus on technology

  • Keen understanding of, and interest in, public policies related to data protection and technology (e.g. artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, encryption ...)

  • Excellent communication skills in English - written and verbal

  • Experience navigating dynamic work environments and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects

  • Willingness to travel frequently (when company travel resumes)

  • Good judgement, sense of humor, determination, perseverance under pressure

  • Sensitive to contribute to an environment that promotes diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of working in the EU institutions or EU Member States regulatory bodies or trade associations in the digital environment

  • Communication skills in one or more Central and Eastern EU languages

  • Published material related to privacy policy or legislative issues

  • International policy experience and project management experience
