Facebook is looking for a Privacy Policy Manager to join our EMEA Privacy Policy team. The team's mission is to develop privacy-protective and innovative responsible approaches to personal data that help Facebook to bring the world closer together and improve people's lives. The ideal candidate for this role has experience working in a privacy policy setting, or in government or a regulatory agency in roles closely related to digital issues. They should have the ability to create support for policy proposals across a wide range of stakeholders. They should also have strong skills, both in drafting strategies for internal audiences as well as persuasive public submissions to industry groups, policymakers, and regulators. Candidates should be able to work in a decentralised team and lead projects independently and with minimal direction, particularly in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with colleaguesaround the world. Candidates should be driven to develop innovative, creative and responsible responses to privacy policy challenges. Privacy Policy Manager, Business Responsibilities

  • Gather and transform EU key privacy policy regulatory challenges into a coherent internal and external strategy and guide the team towards finding strategic alliances, partners and external engagements.

  • Coordinate the team's strategic interaction with policymakers, associations, local champions, start-ups, experts and NGOs and long-term relationship building in the EU.

  • Work closely with cross-functional global teams on a range of policy issues, including strategically drafting submissions and engagement plans for local policy audiences, to ensure internal coordination and support each other's work.

  • Design and lead innovative strategies and campaigns to shape the public and political climate of opinion around Facebook

  • Manages a team of subject-matter experts and prioritises the team's work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years work experience in a privacy policy setting or working in EU institutions, or Member States regulatory bodies or industry trade associations active in the privacy or digital environment

  • Experience managing strategic outreach with diverse stakeholders within policy advocacy or in a government position

  • Keen understanding of complex regulatory privacy policy issues in the EU and ability to anticipate upcoming challenges and company's priorities with minimal direction

  • Ability to hold larger external network across key privacy and competition stakeholders in the EU in the private and public sector

  • Familiarity with the EU legislative process

  • Excellent communication skills in English and German - written and verbal

  • Experience navigating dynamic work environments and prioritising multiple simultaneous projects

  • Willingness to travel frequently (when company travel resumes)

  • Good judgement, sense of humor, determination, perseverance under pressure

  • Sensitive to contribute to an environment that promotes diversity and inclusion

  • Ability to remotely work with decentralized teams across the globe

  • Ability to lead a decentralized team that allows each person to grow and play to its strengths
