What's the role about?

As a Partner in our business, your number one focus is to work collaboratively to create more value for our customers and our business. Within the Partnerships' role of Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering procurement sourcing activity within the Marketing & Print Category.

You will work with a broad set of stakeholders across our brands to support the execution of the brand's marketing plans. This could include actively challenging how the business allocates budgets, commits spend, engages and manages third party agencies and suppliers; with the overall aim of reducing GNFR spend, maximising value, and reducing third party risk for the Partnership.

You will be part of a highly engaged and committed team and will strive to deliver the best value through your procurement, sourcing, and negotiation expertise.

What will you be doing?

You will be part of the Category Planning and Sourcing team within Procurement, focussing specifically on the Marketing & Print Category, reporting to the Procurement Lead, Marketing & Print.

The Partnerships is based upon two of the strongest brands in the Retail industry today. Loved by the customer, focused on delivering innovation and new services, your focus will be on driving the Partnership towards growth and driving close cooperation between the brands.

With Marketing playing such a critical role in the Partnership's success, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team at the heart of driving the change working closely across the Marketing teams, Procurement, Finance, Legal and delivering value through effective source to contract activity and negotiation.

The ability to engage and interact with a broad range of stakeholders, prioritise activity and support strategic category planning are all key areas in which the successful candidate will thrive.

We are seeking a confident, ambitious team player who will have a passion for Marketing in all its forms and Procurement, and who is prepared to provide robust challenges to business partners at all stages of the cost cycle to drive consistent delivery of commercial benefit to the Partnership. to ensure that John Lewis and Waitrose remain a brand that our customers love.

What you'll have

Category planning, sourcing, and negotiation experience, ideally including previous experience of buying marketing services.

An interest in technology and retail.

MCIPS qualified or working towards.

Solid understanding of negotiation principles and best practice.

Good experience of contract law and drafting agreements.

Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Broad understanding of procurement strategy, policy, and process.

What else could you bring?

Ability to challenge stakeholders, building and managing strong relationships both internally and externally to maximise delivery of the Procurement GNFR agenda.

Experience in commercial negotiation and the ability to take the lead on negotiations
