The European Union Sort Center (EUSC) leadership team is looking for a Launch Planning Program Leader accountable for the safe and on-time delivery of Air Hubs & Gateways and Sort Centers in Europe. This role is critical to support the rapid expansion of sort centers/air hubs and encompasses the oversight of the full end to end project life-cycle for site launches from Business Needs definition, Real Estate Searches through to Project Execution and Handover to Operations. The Launch Planning Program Leader will need to be a strategic thinker with solid program management expertise as well as solid stakeholder management capability to effectively orchestrate the delivery of sites to our internal customer EUSC Operations.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
The Launch Program Leader ensures the coordination of all planning and execution activities (Engineering Procurement and Construction Management - EPCm) related to launches of new sites from the Business Needs Definition (Plan of Records) to handing over a fully functional building to Operations. This leader will coordinate an existing team of eight, covering four key functions: Real Estate, Project Management Office (PMO), Site Launch and Legal Entity/Launch Travel Team.

The Real Estate function is responsible for both brownfield (legacy sites) and greenfield (Built to Suit) site searches working in close collaboration with Real Estate, World Wide Design and Site Appraisal teams. The main deliverable is the lease signature of a site.
The PMO's main responsibility is the tracking and reporting of critical path milestones relevant to the execution teams (Operations Engineering, Construction, Startup, Procurement) and the coordination between the planning, execution teams and the business.
The Site Launch team is responsible for the execution and coordination of specific site launch projects working closely with over 40 different functions/teams . They are responsible for the safe and on-time delivery of the sites to Operations.

The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as EUSC Operation Director, Regional Directors, Site leaders as well as key teams such as Network Planning, Finance, World Wide Design team, Ops Engineering, Start Up, Construction, Procurement, IT and RME.

A suitable candidate will have a demonstrated previous experience of:
End to end Thinking - Ability to move from the bigger picture to the project details.
Solid Program management - Ability to coordinate several projects concurrently and deal with conflicting priorities.
Prioritization - There will be a constant flow of work, both tactical and strategic. Determine what gets done first and why, while coordinating a plan for what to do with everything else.
Bias for Action and Dealing with Ambiguity. Sometimes it is not clear how we are going to get there. Can you contribute to carve a path? How fast can you do it? What are the trade-offs? Take risks and be willing to try new things, fail fast and iterate.

1. Lead in project management and with it required communication, process and tool skills.
2. Improve our existing innovation and tech integration roadmap and amend and extend with own ideas, working in an ambiguous space that requires ownership for new projects and its operational growth.
3. Ensure program and project business benefits are identified, quantified, prioritized and delivered on time, to specification and on budget.
4. Co-ordinate and support lead pilot design and deployment projects and activities as well as the implementation of Amazon global business solutions. Hereby, provide regular status reporting to stakeholders and escalate issues and concerns in a timely manner.
5. Create ways to document, simplify and share reports and process standards in a way that make adoption simple for geographically dispersed teams as well as to lean report generation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. A proven record of program/project management experience, ideally 5 years + in infrastructure projects
2. Good technical, process and financial insight
3. Ability to coordinate complex analysis, to provide solutions, to make data driven decisions and to simplify complex topics for broad audiences in written and verbal form in fluent written and spoken English.
4. Ability to deliver in a fast changing environment working with structure, persistence and on a high factual level.

5. A degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Economics, Logistics or similar field and relevant work experience in a similar role.

6. German language proficiency minimum B2

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. A qualification in project, lean management and data science tools.
2. Familiarity with field operations and supply chain management concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics - gained through work experience or graduate level education.

3. Speaking another European language fluently.

4. Experience in infrastructure/operational projects in airports, cargo warehouses, air cargo, IATA regulations.
