Department Description

FIL General Counsel Technology is responsible for providing IT solutions to the Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit and Tax functions. These are global functions comprised of approximately 400 employees based in 26 countries. General Counsel Technology partners with its business stakeholders to identify their requirements and develop/implement technology solutions. This includes on-premise, SaaS and AWS solutions, both in-house built and vendor provided. There is a strong focus on data analytics, workflow and automation tools to bring greater efficiencies to these functions. Together with this there is continued move towards greater use of Agile and DevOps practices. The GC Technology team itself consists of approximately 40 people based in both the UK and India.

Purpose of the Role

The Programme Manager role will have a specific focus on technology solutions to support our Risk Management function. Responsibilities will range from supporting and delivering change across our existing suite of risk management tools, through to managing the identification and implementation of a new Global ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) tool.

This includes end-to-end programme/project management, defining the business case, build-vs-buy decision making, strategic planning, managing supplier relationships (product vendors and consulting partners), running working group and steering committee forums, project reporting, budget management and leading global delivery teams. The role will require ownership of business relationships and a close working relationship with General Counsel stakeholders globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple General Counsel business functions.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Work creatively in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Manage projects within the guidelines of the change and risk frameworks of Fidelity.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and technology partners at different levels.
  • Transition project delivery and system development activities seamlessly to BAU support teams.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Technical Skills
  • Experience in delivering global Risk Management solutions in Financial Service organisations.
  • Strong leadership, senior management level communication and influencing skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-year programmes of work.
  • Proven experience in project management methodologies, with focus on Agile/SCRUM.
  • Ability to think from a customer viewpoint and provide a high level of service to internal clients
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to address different audiences with the right level of complexity and refinement.
