As a Project Manager working within the Programme Integration Office (PIO) you will be responsible for managing strategic projects within the Construction Directorate to support and manage integration across delivery functions and teams.

The Programme Integration Office operates within the Construction Directorate supporting the Delivery Director in the day to day delivery of their accountabilities, its main function is:

Programme Coordination & Integration - consisting of specialist ad hoc tasks; functional, team and programme integration across construction; development of leaning legacy content; supporting strategic stakeholders; assurance activities and continuity during transition phases.

Efficiency Management - identification and management and administration of the Phase 1 £5Bn Efficiency Challenge Programme. Including management of Third-Party delivery partners.

Delivery Readiness - consisting of establishing a readiness criteria; carrying out activities to achieve programme delivery readiness; communication management; coordination of the works information; defining the Forward Operating Capability framework and subsequent project management support; driving a common and consistent language across the construction directorate.

About the role:
  • Support the planning and delivery of cross-asset, strategic integration projects for the £30bn Phase One Programme.
  • Effectively manage and co-ordinate complex and diverse stakeholders.
  • Support PIO Lead / Snr Project Manager in the planning, implementation and transition of future states for the Construction Directorate.
  • Manage and implement programmes to deliver the Phase 1 Efficiency Challenge Programme.
  • Support PIO Lead / Snr Project Manager in identifying and managing projects to resolve emergent or systemic problems that require either a cross asset integrated team or a strategic approach.
  • Support embedding a common delivery approach across Construction, e.g. through the development of consistent Contract Management Plans, IPT (Integrated Project Team) handbooks etc.
  • Manage and facilitate an effective lesson learned approach across Construction, ensuring lessons are embedded across projects and acting as the conduit to Phase 2 and the PMO to learn lessons.


Qualifications:

About You:
  • Project Management - the ability to plan and integrate projects to deliver target costs, dependencies, risk management and project benefits. Skills profile aligned to APM Project Manager (intermediate).
  • Problem Solving - the ability to identify problems and review related information to assist in the development and evaluation of options and the implementation of solutions, including the ability to manage and plan workstreams, considering the competing demands of stakeholders, cost, time and quality.
  • Decision Making - the ability to manage the gathering and synthesising of necessary information to assist in the identification of options and the application of judgement based on logic and reason.
  • Analysis - the ability to analyse inputs, assess data in order to assist in the development of strategies and document supporting rationales; with a specific focus on analytics to assist in the delivery of the Efficiency Challenge Programme.
  • Influencing & Negotiating - the ability to influence and negotiate with internal functions and external supply chain partners.
  • Building Relationships - ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to resolve emergent risk situations.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the project management knowledge aligned to the level of APM Project Manager (intermediate)
  • Understanding of the nature of the relevant contract structures and the application of appropriate contract and supplier performance systems.
  • Understanding of risk identification and management Understanding of project schedule management, dependencies and risk assessment
Type of experience:
  • Experience of entire project lifecycles including planning, procuring, developing and implementing project activities.
  • Experience of leading, managing people and working across functions and disciplines to deliver objectives Qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management or the equivalent experience.
