Instagram is looking for an energetic, creative, team-oriented addition to its global public policy team. The ideal candidate will have both a passion for Instagram and a strong aptitude in understanding Instagram's approach to public policy, and the Meta organization.In this role, you will support all aspects of the APAC Instagram Public Policy team's work in Japan and Korea, through stakeholder management, identification and management of public policy issues impacting Instagram, managing policy programs to support public policy and outreach strategies, speaking publicly on behalf of Instagram and Meta, and relationship building with a diverse range of stakeholders across government, academia, and civil society. This role will also cover the regulatory environment and how it impacts Instagram's business, as well as the driving of creative campaigns, together with the Instagram APAC Policy Programs lead, to demonstrate the value of Instagram to policy makers, key influencers, and consumers. You should be extremely comfortable in a matrixed environment, working both with internal teams (Instagram or across Meta) and external organizations. We are looking for candidates with exceptional organizational skills, resilience and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving, and high-priority projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who relishes creating impact from a small team while leveraging a wide range of internal stakeholders, and is willing to personally roll up their sleeves to do anything to get the job done. You should be creative, resourceful, knowledgeable about technology policy issues, analytical, and an excellent written and verbal communicator.This position is full-time and can be located in Tokyo or Seoul.

Public Policy Manager, Instagram, APAC Responsibilities:

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze policy issues affecting Instagram in Japan and Korea, and identify proactive strategies
  • Articulate Instagram positions on these policy issues in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal and external policy meetings
  • Work in partnership with local Meta Public Policy teams on the strategy for building relationships with policy makers, civil society and academics
  • Work with cross functional teams across Meta and Instagram, including legal, content policy, product, partnerships, and communications and represent Instagram-specific policy positions
  • Represent Instagram in meetings with external stakeholders
  • Communicate Instagram's positions in public presentations across Japan and Korea
  • Lead urgent escalations and enquiries on Instagram policy issues
  • Advise Instagram and Meta global and regional teams on public policy matters related to Japan and Korea to guide development of products and policies
  • Work with cross functional teams across the company to ensure Instagram policy outreach in APAC is advancing external understanding around key policy issues
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of Instagram, Meta, and their products
  • Manage the creation of communications, educational, and marketing materials to support policy priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelors' degree, and post-graduate or professional degrees with qualifications in public policy, communications, or related fields a plus
  • Professional experience within the technology industry a plus
  • Business fluency in English, Japanese, Korean required
  • Public affairs, policy, and advocacy experience
  • Experience briefing & advising senior executives
  • Experience managing multiple projects and campaigns at the same time
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
  • Demonstrate good judgment and instincts
  • Knowledge of the Instagram platform and community
