This is a great chance to join a leading global publishing organisation. Job Purpose: To oversee the efficient operation of the editorial office for assigned journals. To deliver editorial office services to Editors, Authors and Reviewers , providing a high level of customer service.

Key Result Areas and main activities and responsibilities editorial process
To deliver editorial services to editors, authors and reviewers in accordance with the specific needs of each Journal and service level agreement. Manage the editorial process with the objective of reducing the lead time from submission to decision stages, overseeing editorial process as follows:

  • New submissions and revised submissions
  • Review process
  • Decision process: ensure all submissions comply with journal and Elsevier policies.

Support & Reporting
Support and assist editors, reviewers and authors in the use of the submission system, answering queries, trouble-shooting, and advising Editors of system enhancements. Referring technical queries to the relevant support Teams as necessary.
Suggest and implement changes (workflow/configuration) to optimize performance of journal, realise initiatives and comply journal/publishing policies.

Trouble shooting/providing feedback to the relevant submission system project and Technical Support Team.
Provide editors and publishers with verbal and written updates of the journal's performance.
Generate reports for editors and publishers as per journal requirements, for board meetings, strategic planning and ad hoc reports as required.

Communication
Represent Elsevier professionally in all communication with the Journal community.
Update and advise external authors and reviewers with accurate and appropriate journal and submission requirements and policies including publication ethics.
Respond to queries from editors, reviewers and authors within 48 hours.
Effective liaison with publishers and content operations department.
Commissioning/managing invited articles
As instructed by, and on behalf of the editor, commission review articles, editorials and liaise with guest editors/authors in the preparation, progress tracking and submission of invited articles including special Issues.

Administration
Ensure all submissions related correspondence is actioned/retained as appropriate. Contact, follow up authors/reviewers/editors for outstanding requested items.
