The Aone+ is a joint venture between Costain, Jacobs and Colas where they have been entrusted with completing a diverse range of maintenance, incident response, weather management and road engineering duties across over 4300 miles of major road network. The network include Area 12 Yorkshire and Humberside and Area 4 in Kent which commenced from June 2016 for five years and have a combined estimated value of between £140m and £165 million per year.

What will I be doing?

Location : Area 4 / Kings Hill but will be expected to travel to Area 4 depots and sites as required together with occasional travel to other A-one+ offices and depots. Driving a culture of quality throughout Area 4. Leading the Quality & Performance team in supporting the business to achieve contract compliance and facilitating the development and improvement of business processes and systems.

Main Responsbilities:
  • Ensure safe working practice
  • Manage and develop the Quality and Performance team so that all team members are competent and high performing and provide inherent business continuity and resilience.
  • Ensure A-one+ Area 4 maintains certification to ISO 9001 and relevant National Highways Sector Schemes
  • Support and facilitate certification to ISO 14001, ISO 27001, OHSAS 18001, BS 11000 and PAS 99.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Highways England Collaborative Performance Framework (CPF)
  • Reviewing performance and reporting it openly and honestly in line with our trusted reputation
  • Ensure implementation of an Area 4 internal audit regime
  • Ensure the adequate provision of support, advice and training to all teams in managing non-conformities including their identification, root cause analysis, preparation of corrective action reports and closing out in a timely manner
  • Support the Area 4 Leadership team in the development and delivery of a lean deployment programme which will be carried out in conjunction with the A-one+ Lean Deployment Manager
  • Active participation in Area Leadership Team meetings
  • Ensure training and coaching is provided to ensure all teams are fully conversant with the Collaborative Performance Framework (CPF)
  • Ensure support, training and coaching is provided to ensure all teams are proficient at managing their Annex 24 processes.
  • Prepare and deliver training related to area of responsibility including coaching and mentoring
  • Work collaboratively with A-one+ teams, Highways England, our Supply chain and stakeholders to ensure contract compliance and the facilitation of business improvement
About you

Academic qualifications/level of education.
  • Qualified Lead auditor (although training will be given where required)
Specific Skills e.g. IT, technical, HGV licence
  • Experienced in team problem solving
  • Good written and spoken English language.
  • Experienced in giving presentations
  • Ability to organise own workload and work of others
  • Experience in the use of lean tools and techniques (Desirable)
  • Driving licence
Knowledge e.g. of particular IT package, industry standards, commercial awareness.
  • ISO 9001 (Desirable)
  • Highways England Collaborative Performance Framework (Desirable)
  • Highways England Annex 24 process model (Desirable)
  • National Highways Sector Schemes (Desirable)
  • Microsoft Office MS Word, Excel, Visio
