Job Title - Quality Control Operative

Location - Veolia, Medway Transfer Station, Whitewall Road, Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent ME2 4DZ 

Hours - Full time, Monday to Friday, 08:30am -16:30pm

What you’ll do

As a Quality Control Operative, you will ensure the highest possible quality of products, by analysing materials, identifying quality issues and providing quality training to colleagues. Other duties will include:

  • Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Quality Control (QC) service, subject to the appropriate training being given.

  • Controlling all QC activities throughout the plant.

  • Undertaking all tasks in accordance with the companies Quality and Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Regulations.

  • Completing all relevant daily inspections and associated paperwork to the required standard.

  • Ensuring that, whilst on duty, any defects or faults on plant and machinery are reported to the Maintenance Team.

  • Keeping QC cabin and surrounding area clean, tidy and free of obstruction and hazard.

  • Undertaking cleaning & maintenance of plant, equipment and facilities as required from time to time.

  • Ensuring that all data is recorded accurately and on time.

  • completing any training required for the role.

The above is a summary of the main tasks and responsibilities of the post, but further tasks and responsibilities may be required within the demands of the business. Training will be given for these tasks as appropriate.

The experience you will need


  • Work on own initiative as well as part of a team

  • Good communication skills

  • Flexible with working hours

  • Good standard of Maths & English

  • Basic Excel Skills


  • Process/Manufacturing experience

  • Experience of using Google Forms

Where you’ll work 

Veolia Rochester Transfer station is located on the Medway city estate with good public transport links. The site operates from 5:00am to 16:30pm where the commercial and municipal department will dispose of their waste in Rochester up to 250,000 tonnes per year. Here the waste is sorted and sent to end destinations. The team at Rochester is a small team of 10 and all have a good working relationship.
