As a Quality Manager at HS2 you will support the delivery of the programme in compliance with the stated requirements, through the design, development and implementation of effective quality management processes and procedures in support of delivery team.

About the role:

  • Develop and maintain the HS2 Quality Management System to ISO 9001 ensuring it drives continual improvement to continue to create a world class system; acting as the accountable contact to co-ordinate independent UKAS accredited certification.
  • Use quality management tools and techniques to promote continual improvements and quality awareness throughout the HS2 Programme.
  • Contribute to the selection and evaluation of suppliers for the HS2 programme to help ensure the all suppliers can comply with the HS2 Integrated Management System and have the necessary capabilities to deliver consistently to the required standard.
  • Participate in Management meetings providing insight into the key areas of concern surrounding Quality Management.
  • Support the resolution of issues that result from identified non-conformity via discussion with the delivery team and supplier or contractor if applicable. Where necessary escalate issues to functional and programme management heads.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships with regard to quality and ensure that requirements are understood and complied with, work is completed to the required standard and the facilitation of continual improvement through the supply chain.
  • Input into the audit planning process to ensure that key area risks are included in the programme and that contractors and suppliers have the appropriate coverage in consultation with the Head of Quality and IMS.
  • Participate in management system audits of HS2, contractor and supplier audits as required.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


About You:

  • Experience of leading Quality management systems on an infrastructure project or within a large organisation; including leading on change management to embed practices, policy development experience, supply chain exposure and Quality performance measurements.
  • Experience of co-ordinating operational audits.
  • Experience of analysing risk information and the development of risk actions.
  • Experience in in creating effective Quality performance reports that are the basis for management decisions
  • Knowledge of management system standards such as ISO 9001 management systems best practice.
  • A qualification in engineering or construction related specialism to minimum level 4
