The recruitment team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic apprenticeship opportunity for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of our expanding service.

You'll join the team as an apprentice recruitment administrator, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn whilst studying towards a highly recognised professional qualification.

Please note this position will for 37.5 hours per week, consisting of four days a week in the office and one day a week studying during term-time.


HR recruitment at UHS advertises and administers thousands of roles a year filling vacancies across the Trust, from electricians to doctors, accountants to physiotherapists. We recruit into high volume vacancies as well as niche, highly specialist posts.

This role sits within the Medical Recruitment team, which co-ordinates initiatives related to the employment and Recruitment of doctors within the Trust. The service supports effective management and deployment of senior and junior medical staff including locum medical staff in order to support the Trust in achieving its strategic and operational objectives.


As a recruitment administrator, you'll oversee the end-to-end recruitment process from

This will involve:
  • advertising vacancies, administering offers and conducting and recording pre-employment checks. delivery of a comprehensive and responsive recruitment service within the trust
  • providing s guidance on advertising, selection process, contract of employment and queries relating to the terms and conditions of Medical and Dental Staff
  • adherence to the NHS employment check standards and compliance with appropriate employment legislation
  • communicating with and supporting hiring managers and candidates over the phone, face to face and via email.
  • delivery of a timely, accurate and high quality customer focused service
We are open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and 8am -12pm on Saturdays so flexibility to deliver these shifts is essential with occasional Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
