Summary

Facebook Reality Labs brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers to build the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality. We're developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets. We are currently seeking an innovative postdoctoral researcher to perform research in the area of Polarized Light specifically in the topics related to creating polarization imaging capture systems, computational methods in polarization imaging, polarization in scattering and other topics.

Required Skills

  • Develop capture systems that capture the Stokes or Mueller Matrix image.
  • Develop algorithms to process and extract information from these images.


Minimum Qualification

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of Optical Sciences, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Background in polarized light, with a thorough knowledge of Jones and Mueller Calculus.
  • Background in physical optics concepts related to coherence, scattering, and classical modeling of optical properties of materials.
  • Background in computational methods in optics with competency in probability and statistics as well as computational imaging.
  • Basic understanding of light generation and light sources.
  • Basic understanding of image formation, image sensor principles and image signal processing.
  • Combination of experimental and computational experience.
  • Experience programming in Matlab, Python, or other high-level programming language.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.


Preferred Qualification

  • Background in Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Experience in liquid crystals, wire grid polarizers, and other complex polarization components.
  • Experience with rigorous computational methods including RCWA and FDTD.
  • Zemax, FRED, Virtual Lab, or other optical design software experience.
