Your code will help millions of lives. Last year we had 29 million visits to our website and helped 2.7 million people face to face, over the phone, by email and through webchat. We helped to solve the problems of 7 in 10 of the people who we gave advice to directly. Your work will have an impact on our clients, staff and volunteers. We are all proud of the work we are doing.

Can you help us make a difference to millions of people?

We are on a new, exciting digital and tech journey that will really change how we interact with people that need our help, and start to make even more of a difference to people’s lives.

We’re building a team of outstanding people who will create and run new and improved digital and technology services. We will be using cutting edge technology and agile development methods, within a vibrant, innovative and collaborative culture. You may be building software used by millions of people who visit our website for advice and support. Or you could be writing code for services used by thousands of advisers - who are the staff and volunteers who empower our clients with advice and support.

What we build can help make a real difference to people every day. We want you to join us on our journey and make a difference to millions of people. We would love to hear from you.

About the role

  • Understand object-orientated programming and write simple, well-tested code
  • Care about how maintainability, performance and simplicity of your code

  • Any experience with other data stores such as Elasticsearch or Redis would be advantageous
  • Experience of Agile, Scrum and behaviour-driven development (BDD) but not essential

You will have dedicated time at Citizens Advice to learn new skills and technologies, research topics or work on tools that make our work easier. We have a quarterly hackathon, where we have the opportunity to fix, change or explore ideas we would love to work on but never usually have the time for.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented throughout Citizens Advice. We are a member of the race equality campaign at Business in the Community, the Prince’s responsible business network and are committed to improving employment opportunities for ethnic minorities across the UK. We also welcome applications from, LGB and Trans and non binary candidates.

We have made a positive commitment to employing disabled people and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role as set out in role profiles.
