The Role:

SCS JV (Skanska, Costain, STRABAG) are recruiting for a Section Engineer to join the team working on HS2 in West Ruislip. The role will involve managing and driving the engineering aspects of asection of the works, developing and reporting of section programmes andbudgets and ensuring that the works are conducted in accordance with theproject requirements including health and safety. Liaise between different site disciplines toensure effective planning and use of project resources.

Manage and drivethe training and development of the Site Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing and co-ordinating the activities of the site engineers toensure all setting-out and quality control procedures are performed in a timelyand efficient manner, so as not to impede the construction programme.
  • Develop 4-weekly programmes with site engineer and simple benchmarkproductivity measures for the workforce and assess actual programme andproductivity achieved for review at weekly progress meetings to includeresource requirements.
  • Complete inspection and test plans, risk assessments and methodstatements for the control of the works ensuring that all necessarydocumentation, as required by these statements and plans, is produced in atimely manner.
  • Communicate with works managers, foremen, gangers, workforce andsub-contractors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
  • Communicate to the QA and QS teams non-conformances, and anyinstructions received from the client / designer / RE's staff. Ensure thatcomprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
  • Procurement of Plant, Materials and Equipment through Requisitions.
  • Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes /variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work related discussionswith client / designer / RE / project team.
  • Adherence to project policies and procedures.
  • Develop TemporaryWorks Design Briefs and engage in the design process.

Ihre Qualifikationen

Required qualifications, skills, behaviours and attributes

Essential:
  • Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineeringallied subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training inEngineering
  • Understanding of Engineering Principles
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques andbest practices.
  • Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Documentcontrol system).
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Training in Health & Safety and Environmentalmanagement
  • Presentation Skills Training (as they deliverinductions / briefings etc).
Desired:
  • Workingtowards ICE Chartership or Further Education to obtain this
  • Computer competence (CAD, Primavera software, Synchro).
  • Previous highways experience
