Brief Description

There is an exciting opportunity to join us in a role that is vital to our success. We are looking for a Senior Asset Engineer [Compliance] [Geotechnics] to join our earthworks and geotechnical asset management team, covering Anglia and East Midlands routes.

In this role you will be leading the team with monitoring compliance to various standards, commitments and processes, and lead or support the prevention and resolution of non-compliances and the corrective actions taken to prevent reoccurrence. You will actively contribute to a team culture that supports continuous improvement.
About the role (External)

Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Lead the team with monitoring compliance to various standards, commitments and processes.
Lead or support the team with the prevention and resolution of overdue items and non-compliances, and the corrective actions taken to prevent reoccurrence.
Regularly prepare and present performance and compliance related information for management reporting (eg. KPI reporting, Business Review reporting, periodic and end of year reporting, etc).
Lead or support the team with engineering verifications, audits, compliance reviews, etc. Investigate and resolve technical and quality issues.
Lead or support investigations into significant failures that affect the safety and performance of assets. Ensure that actions required to mitigate the risk of reoccurrence are documented within our processes and programmes of work.
Facilitate best practice sharing and continuous improvement.
Support the team in the management of team competencies.
Contribute to the production of route specific asset management plans.
Support the examination, evaluation, assessment and risk management of geotechnical assets.
Support the Route Engineer (Geotechnics) in providing earthworks asset management and geotechnical engineering support to senior management of Operations and Customer Services and Maintenance.
Be part of an on-call rota for out of office hours geotechnical incident response.

    Do you have?

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
  • Membership of relevant professional institution
  • Incorporated Engineer or equivalent
  • Substantial Geotechnical engineering experience
  • An understanding of policy and technical, safety and performance standards relating to geotechnical engineering
  • Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
  • Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent geotechnical qualification
  • An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
