We're looking for an experienced business development professional to progress and implement Gowling WLG (UK) LLP's Real Estate business development strategies, working closely with our partners and colleagues in the Business Development department. As one of the UK's leading real estate firms, and leading a team of three, this is a high profile and important role.

Main purpose of the role:

• Work with the leadership team of the Real Estate Sector and Practice to agree and implement BD strategies that deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

• Take a lead role in the management of the Real Estate Sector within the wider BD team to ensure clear decision-making, excellent coordination and high levels of delivery.

• Work alongside BD department colleagues to ensure that available resources are managed effectively to achieve the stated strategic objectives.

• Work closely with international colleagues to align global objectives and pursue international opportunities together.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Real Estate Sector and Practice leaders and partners to develop strategic business plans, account management and budgeting.

• Lead on developing client strategy including client-focused growth, relationship management, client listening/feedback and new sales/targeting.

• Be responsible for driving generation of profitable growth from existing key and other clients important to the Real Estate Sector and Practice.

• Provide strategic business development advice, practical marketing support and financial and operational support to stakeholders.

• Work with partners and other stakeholders to identify, devise and communicate new products and services to our client base.

• Provide and apply commercial insight, influencing senior stakeholders as appropriate.

• Monitor client and market developments, delivering relevant and focused advice and communications to the Sector and associated legal practice teams.

• Monitor and drive financial performance of the Real Estate practice group, sub-sectors and clients.

• Identify and track cross-selling opportunities for other sectors and legal teams.

• Act as a central knowledge resource for, and advocate of, the firm's strategy and vision.

• Work with the strategic bids team on major sector focused bids to bring sector knowledge to bear.

• Work with the corporate communications and digital teams to create consistent content and messages for the Sector and related legal practice teams to raise of the profile of the Real Estate Sector in the marketplace.

• Ensure that market and competitor analysis is fully utilised, leveraging internal and external resources.

• Day to day supervision of BD Manager, Key Account Manager and BD Executive.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Successful track record in business development within a real estate, legal or other professional services environment.

• Ability to think strategically and put plans into action.

• Ability to deal directly with clients and client representatives.

• Commercial awareness and understanding of the clients' world.

• Excellent organisational and project management skills.

• Ability to prioritise and manage demanding deadlines.

Standard hours of work are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch (35 hours per week).
