Your role

Responsible for the day-to-day execution of Control Activity within the First Line Fund Management Functions. Responsibilities will include Control Operation, management of Policy and Procedure, maintenance of Risk and Control Registers, Operational Risk management, ad-hoc project work, liaison with Compliance, Risk and Technology departments.

Your Team

The First Line Controls is part of the wider Investment Specialized Service team at Invesco Ltd, a leading independent global investment management firm dedicated to delivering an investment experience that helps people get more out of life. The First Line Controls Team is led by Stuart Liddle, the Senior Manager, and supports the Henley Investment Centre, Invesco Fixed Income and Invesco Senior Secured Management Teams. The team undertake controls activity on behalf of these functions, performing analytical assessment to ensure the investment activity complies with regulation and Invesco's own internal policies and standards. The team are additionally responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Policy and Procedural documentation for these Investment Teams. The team are currently engaged in a programme of work to enhance the control environment across by providing an enhanced suite of controls and oversight facilities. Joining the team you will play a key role in both the undertaking of the controls activity and driving the strategic direction of the team, implementing change and enhancement to our control framework.

Key responsibilities:
  • Operate thematic oversight controls to ensure the adherence to internal, regulatory and mandated processes. Implement updates and enhancements to these controls as required.
  • Maintain the content and validate the accuracy of the Risk and Controls register, ensuring risks are correctly captured and performed and the controls are appropriate and proportionate to the underlying risks.
  • Review the functioning of controls to provide Senior Management with Assurance that controls are functioning effectively in line with procedure. Provide necessary Management Information for Senior Management to verify the effectiveness of the Controls Environment. Share any findings and make recommendations for controls enhancement.
  • Ensure Procedural documentation correctly represent the risk environment and controls framework, updating and modifying as needed.
  • Actively partake in the incident management process, ensuring any failure points and gaps in the control environment are correctly identified and recommendations are made to mitigate any deficiencies. Provide active challenge to the remediation process to ensure the optimal outcome to our clients.
  • Active involvement in projects ensuring the business is positioned to respond to market, regulatory and client requirements with a primary focus on managing risk and identifying appropriate controls. Additionally engage with relevant business and/or technology projects testing.
  • Build strong relationships with Fund Management Teams, Compliance, Operational Risk and Internal Audit. Understand their processes and ensure synergies between our departments.
  • Provide general support for other team members and management in the team and wider Fund Management Business Units.

Sound interesting? You'll need:
  • Experience of working within Financial Services is essential, asset management is preferred. Exposure to the front office would be beneficial.
  • Experience of working within the Three Lines of Defence is required, this role is Controls focused and previous experience would be considered favourably, however roles withing Compliance, Operational Risk or Audit would also be considered positively.
  • Full working knowledge of standard office software is required. Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge is preferred. Ability to use Visio, confluence or other project software would be considered favourably.
  • Experience of working within large scale business transformation projects would be positive.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on detail.
  • Curiosity towards the investment process and the mechanics of financial transactions.
  • Desire to change and enhances, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Good standard of general education (A level or equivalent)
  • Good standard of English and Maths desirable
