100% Home based(UK & Ireland) Or Hybrid with our office in Canary Wharf.

Who we are and what we do:
  • We are a team of data engineers responsible for the data lake of customer data for Reach.
  • Our daily responsibilities are: get data from places, put it in S3, secure it, make it available to everyone depending on the privileges they have. e.g. not everyone is entitled to see PII sensitive information, that information needs to be hidden for a group of people prior to making the data available.
  • We practice infrastructure as code, and we heavily use AWS Cloudformation.
  • Among our challenges are: how to get the right data from a 3rd party, how to stay GDPR compliant, how to automate absolutely everything, how to test the data, how to report data metrics, how to make data available to other groups in the business that don't consume it yet.

Key Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining and building on the existing AWS data platform around content recommendations, and coordinating technological work in line with the higher level strategies around customer experience and value.

  • Confident at managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A self-starter with a can-do, will-do attitude.

Key Skills & Experience
  • An advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, psychology, operations research, orequivalent work experience.
  • Great communication skills, and ability to get stuff done.
  • You will need to be able to deliver all aspects of the projects unassisted, working without supervision in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience applying quantitative methods to real world problems.
  • Proficient in Python & Scala or JavaScript and a will to learn/work with both
  • Master of SQL and knowledge of Presto is a plus
  • Experience with AWS CI/CD or a desire to learn AWS services and deployment
  • Experience with modern data processing frameworks like Hadoop / MapReduce, Scala.

Nice to Have

  • Experience configuring and maintaining data warehouses within Redshift and/or similar platforms.
  • Experience using Alteryx would be advantageous within an ETL like function and/or data science function
  • Dataflow or equivalent
