MATCHESFASHION are investing heavily in growing our Data and Analytics capabilities. To support our future growth plans, we are seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join the Data Team. The role will be responsible for building and governing cloud-based data platforms and products to support our data engineering and data science teams to further develop and empower a DevOps culture within delivery teams.

  • Support and govern core Data Platforms.
  • Define and implement good engineering/DevOps patterns and practices
  • Collaborate with the software engineering leads to define cross-platform solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers and internal business stakeholders to define platform requirements.
  • Support and develop the technical roadmap in collaboration with other engineering leads.
  • Architecture and design governance in collaboration with architects and other engineering leads.
  • Technical due diligence of third-party platforms, solutions and integrations.
  • Compile and maintain good quality operational and systems documentation.

A passionate engineer with a can-do and positive attitude, you will have previous experience in data engineering, working with data systems such as Data-Lakes, Data Warehouses, and streaming technologies. You will also have an interest or experience in Data Engineering, and Data Science, specifically Machine Learning and this role will have an ability to upskill into MLOps.
  • Experienced software engineer with a specialist focus on data engineering.
  • Advocate of modern software engineering principles such as Agile and automation.
  • Extensive experience managing AWS & cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles and tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management and deployment using tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, Docker, Ansible, Chef, Octopus Deploy.
  • Have a broad-minded approach to technology, using the right tool for the job.
  • Ability to work across multiple work streams and development projects in an agile environment.
  • Strong background in system administration across Linux and Windows.
  • Experience with scripting languages used in continuous integration/delivery processes.

  • Proficient Programming/coding/scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, bash, (Desirable Scala, Java, SQL, R).
  • CI/CD experience with Jenkins (Desirable TeamCity/Octopus Deploy, GitHub Actions).
  • Use of Monitoring, auditing and logging tools like Datadog, AWS CloudWatch/CloudTrail, ELK.
  • Understanding/interest with Spark (we use Databricks), Containerisation/cluster management (K8s), Kafka/streaming, and NoSQL dbs.
