Brief Description

Who are we looking for?

You will act as Subject Matter specialist in the Wheel Rail Management Team undertaking tasks in the field of Rail friction management, Rail profile management and have a good understanding of Welding and Grinding activities.

You will be required to solve issues and provide support to the wider business, focusing on making improvements to technology and standards. You will be able to own the introduction of new products and provide technical leadership to those working within Rail Management throughout the business. In addition to this, you will also lead authority forums in Rail Management, so an understanding of Non-destructive testing is also desirable.
About the role (External)

What does the day to day look like?

This position will put you in control of setting company policy for Rail Management Engineering activities including the introduction of new equipment, standards and processes.

You will provide professional technical leadership to the Routes and Regions Acting as the technical specialist for Rail Management Engineering. You will successfully achieve this through influencing and leading the Rail Management Forum action log to help resolve and lead the required changes through decision making and working with others.

What essential skills and experiences are required?

• Knowledge of Rail friction management

• Knowledge of Rail profile management

• Knowledge of Rail management engineering

• Knowledge of Welding and Grinding activities

• Recognised leadership capability in engineering safety management

• Experience in communicating technical information

• Extensive experience in company standards and competency

• Experience of working with others to achieve a common goal

• Knowledge of the railway industry and an understanding of railway infrastructure

• Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills

• Awareness of safety, assurance, compliance, performance and business processes.

Nice to have but not essential skills;

• Understanding of the Product Introduction process

• Understanding of Common Safety Methods
