Senior Finance Business Partner - Maternity Cover - FTC

These challenges need the bold research our funding supports, but they won't be solved by science alone.
We are looking for a Finance Business partner to do a Maternity Cover for c. 12 months in the Commercial Finance Team.
This role is part of the Commercial Finance, Planning and Analysis Team , this team provide business partnering across the organisation to enable effective decision making, manage the budget and forecast with wider Wellcome and support and coach the decision making process for ELT, the Board of Governors and to each area of the organisation. The commercial finance team is responsible for business partnering providing insight, advice and due diligence drawing on our technical experts as needed and being a trust advisor for all teams with Wellcome.
In this role you will
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to become a trusted advisor who is able to challenge and support the business effectively at all levels
Undertake complex analysis and provide commercial insight to improve the quality of decisions and ensure the chosen options deliver high quality outcomes with an appropriate consideration of risk;
Ensure design and delivery of insightful, relevant, business and financial reporting
Deliver quality planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
Challenge and support the organisation to develop robust project plans, with suitable budgets, milestones and deliverables: pulled together in high quality business cases
Review and undertake financial due diligence on institutions applying for funding and monitor risk associated with existing awards, proposing mitigating actions where required
Ensure that appropriate financial controls are in place and operative to provide assurance on financial activity both within Wellcome and for relevant third parties.
Identify and contribute to process improvements in Commercial Finance, Planning and Analysis, and lead process improvement projects as required
Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
Act as a coach / mentor to junior members of the team
To be successful in this role you will have
ACA/ACCA/CIMA or relevant qualification
Solid experience working in a core accounting role, specifically month-end oriented as well as providing management accounting advice and support to senior stakeholders
Advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint and Word skills
Able to manage own workload with focus on delivery as well as being able to work on own or as part of a multi-functional team
Comfortable working with ambiguity and able to successfully balance the need to challenge and support
Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) with stakeholders at all levels
Salary: £ 62,782
