An exciting opportunity exists within NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) ICT department for an experienced Senior ICT Specialist. The post holder will be a technical specialist responsible for the implementation and support of NWSSP business applications and systems.

As a Senior ICT Specialist, the post holder will work with multi-disciplinary teams on development projects of varying complexity, whilst providing specialist advice and support. The post holder will act as escalation point for technical issues and take ownership of such issues through to resolution in accordance with ITIL best practice. You will manage the change control process and ensure all changes are controlled and documented.

The post holder will be responsible for day-to-day running of systems, including desktop support, system configuration and release management to ensure systems are kept up to date. With a strong customer focus and significant 2nd line support experience, the post holder will develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal / external stakeholders. This includes communicating regularly with users and keeping them informed of progress and actions taken to resolve problems.

The post holder will support stakeholders by proactively identifying opportunities to improve business applications, systems and services. Working directly with customers across NWSSP, the post holder will be confident to challenge existing ways of working to bring about service improvement. The post holder will work with stakeholders to ensure that standards and service delivery targets are met.

We are looking for a strong team player capable of working in a very busy team and can prioritise their own workload. We welcome applications from experienced ICT Specialists, who demonstrate up-to-date knowledge in some of the following areas:
  • ITIL service management
  • Application and web development support
  • MS SQL, SSRS, structured querying, database support
  • Windows OS, MS Active Directory, Windows Server, clients etc.
  • Visual Studio, JavaScript, UML, HTML, web forms, TFS
  • Network & telephony
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can quickly learn our systems and proactively respond to customer and business requirements. Working in a challenging environment, the post holder will manage competing priorities with flexibility.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
