About this role
  • Set the standards and improve the craft of product ownership across the portfolio - optimising the value of our investment in product and platform development
  • Servant leader to product owners, supporting them to optimise product goals and choices to maximise value for our customers and colleagues
  • Drive effective and consistent management and prioritisation of all increments of value which form the portfolio roadmap
  • Support and coach Product Owners in the ways of working and agile approaches which will optimise their flow of work
  • Drive execution in complex areas of development, e.g. cross-product, key investments, where senior leadership and expertise is needed
  • Develop & implement OKRs to inform and measure success of Global Product execution strategy

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Leadership role in the 'why' and the 'what' of our product and capability development choices, driving the definition and prioritisation of value

• Owns definition and prioritisation of features for all products in development across the portfolio, and all new platform capability development

• Fulcrum for product development demand, acting as the 'bridge' between portfolio strategy decisions and product development

• Drives backlog decision-making across all products and capabilities in development, supporting teams to resolve trade-offs and effectively prioritise work

• Frames roadmap choices and prioritisation based on increments of value for executive decision-making and communication

• Key to improving the maturity in product management in Digital and Global, uplifting a core skillset for the portfolio

• 2 Tribes (Product Portfolio & Journey/Capability)

• Cross-product and capability backlog prioritisation (in alignment to roadmap priorities)

• Backlog readiness across all products and capabilities, definition of 'ready' for progression into development

• Product and customer related acceptance criteria

• Define and implement Product level OKR's.

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Cross-portfolio knowledge of product domains, product scoping, customer outcomes

• Knowledge of customer value drivers - understanding of the market and where we play, how we win

• Direct revenue and cost impact through maximising value and speed of development

• Extensive experience of taking products to market deploying lean product development/lean product management ways of working, tools, techniques and methods

• Experienced in agile ways of working and agile at scale methods

• Experience delivering outcomes across both a wide stakeholder base and highly matrixed organisation

• All delivery methodologies including agile at scale; waterfall.

• Agile Mindset

• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking

• Stakeholder Management: Influential role, expected to contribute to, and subsequently derive direction from agreed Global & Digital strategy.

• Work directly with MD CIO & CDO, Portfolio Directors within unit and other B level roles across Global & Digital.

• Lead on quarterly alignment planning process and "bookend" reviews with Global / Digital CEOs and their respective LT's.

• Communication: Very strong communicator capable of making an impact, to ensure investment meets current and emerging business and technical needs.

• Transformation: Able to manage long term changes and adapting the unit in line with the business. be confident in managing major strategic changes

• Problem Solving: Must be able to proactively solve business problems that deal with uncertainty e.g. investment planning including location, skill and resource. Also, some problems will be multi-platform wide, impacting multiple services or cross-portfolio solutions.

Experience applying Lean start-up methodology introducing new products from concept to market

• Deep Lean product management and product development experience

• Experience of managing matrixed teams and direct reports

• Experience of Agile methodologies and best practices. Working knowledge of Agile Safe is desired

• Experience as a Product Owner.
