Brief Description

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who will be able to lead the Signalling Supplier Audit Programme alongside supporting the interactions with the supply chain in order to deliver quality and performance improvement. If you have experience in either signalling or assurance, we can provide training and support as required.

Alongside this, you will develop and implement processes / procedures to deliver effective and efficient management of engineering system and assurance activities. This will include being the technical author of protocols to cover existing processes and emerging areas of risk. You will lead the promulgation of shared learning through the project delivery teams.

This role is part of a National Function, and as such location is flexible. We welcome applicants based in any Network Rail geographic location.

About the role (External)

What does the day to day look like?

Day to day you will be engaging with our signalling supply chain, Technical Authority, Route Services and Capital Delivery teams to deliver benefits in integration, efficiency, lessons learnt, best practice and supplier assurance techniques and process. This will be as well as implementing systems and procedures that deliver a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities.

You will also be involved with incident investigations when required, lead the learning points associated with best practice and lessons learnt. This will be alongside supporting with the identification, prioritisation and resolution of key signalling engineering risks and issues to enable timely and efficient mitigations/ solutions through to closure.

In addition to the above, you will also monitor and develop plans for independent asset assurance regimes for capital delivery projects, assessing the impact of devolution of control to routes and developing plans to identify the correct levels of proportionate assurance.

What essential skills and experiences are required?
  • Experience of Project Delivery, ideally in an Engineering environment.
  • Educated to degree/HND level in an Engineering discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience of major contracting.
  • Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance.
  • Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works
We would also like, but not essential.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • Internal Audit Qualification.
