As Senior Telecommunications Engineer you'll provide technical and professional support for telecommunications engineering, supporting development of standards, specifications and technical requirements for the discipline. You'll provide assurance that design and construction of telecommunications assets meet project requirements and work to resolve issues where appropriate.

About the role:

  • Support development of requirements, specifications and standards which deliver telecommunications assets such that they meet HS2 objectives and mitigate environmental impacts, within the programme budget;
  • Provide technical expertise and advice relating to telecommunications systems assets to both the wider organisation and external stakeholders as required;
  • Support in assuring that the design for telecommunications system assets on the HS2 Railway is configured and installed in accordance with standards and technical requirements and where necessary support in resolving issues in accordance with HS2 Governance Procedures;
  • Support engagement and consultation with internal teams impacted by telecommunications design, particularly Infrastructure Management and Systems Delivery teams, ensuring that all relevant systems and sub-systems are considered providing a holistic approach;
  • Support the definition and the management of interfaces between telecommunications systems and other infrastructure systems including those owned and operated by London Underground Ltd and Network Rail;
  • Develop and implement the use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologies and processes, driving consistency and helping to identify opportunities for efficiencies across Phase 1 and Phase 2 delivery teams;
  • You will be expected to actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.


Qualifications:

About You:

• Provide technical support and leadership on all Telecommunications engineering principles for the development of the HS2 project

• Ability to work in a multidiscipline team and be able to effectively communicate with external stakeholders and colleagues.

• Technical knowledge of fixed and wireless communications systems and their relationship to large transportation infrastructures.

• Understanding of the engineering management principles for infrastructure projects and knowledge of the technical standards which apply to railway Telecommunication system design and operation.

• Experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering requirements, interface management and safety standards on large complex projects.
