Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Service Manager to manage and coordinate all aspects of the day to day service delivery operation in a safe and legally compliant manner, to maximise productivity and deliver first-class customer service.

You will be working in partnership with Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental team to ensure that QHS remains the number one priority, by working within the guidelines of an Active Risk culture. And will comply with and support all aspects of the QHS ‘Foundation Blocks’, thereby ensuring prompt reporting and resolution, proactive workplace inspections, chairing QHS Meetings, enforcement of site rules and ensuring good housekeeping, and providing a safe and compliant workplace for employees and visitor.

You will be required to assist the business manager to help achieve the depots budgeted profit & loss by monitoring and maximising productivity and efficiency, and by continual improvement in recycling and addressing contaminated containers in conjunction with the sales team and National Accounts. 

You will deliver first-class customer service through the operational team by ensuring the service delivery is on time, customer complaints are dealt with in a timely manner, and to the satisfaction of both customer and depot and calls are answered in line with regional

expectations and missed calls are kept to an absolute minimum and <2%.

You will also be responsible for managing and engaging the Service Team

and drivers by role modelling the Veolia values, supporting the Business Manager in

communicating company strategy, vision and goals and completing performance reviews, PDR’s and TLA’s, and providing feedback in line with company policy. You will provide support to internal & external audits including fleet audits, Ensure that all health, safety and environmental regulations and policies are adhered to. And ensure that drivers daily debrief process is adhered to, and all safety concerns and near misses are logged on AVA and closed off within the company’s agreed timescales.

Qualifications
 

The experience you will need

Essential:

  • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent experience

  • Good IT skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrable People Management skills and experience in an unionised environment

  • Good working knowledge of operational vehicles

  • Strong customer service skills and focus

Desirable:

  • Hold CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in National Road Haulage

  • IOSH / NEBOSH Certificate

The St Albans Commercial Depot is one of the largest in Veolia UK, operating 34 vehicles collecting waste from businesses in the area. The depot employs 45 people across a variety of roles and responsibilities who all work together in a very close-knit way. It is a busy and fast-paced operation with a dynamic team working alongside the operation of a Waste Transfer Station.
