Our Apprenticeship programmes offer the chance to gain practical work experience and build core skills and contacts within our Energy, Water and Transportation sectors. You'll be supported to achieve professional qualifications, such as diplomas and degrees, and earning a salary at the same time.

The HS2 Main Civils Contracts include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The first 16 months of the project will involve detailed design, pricing and building up target cost, with work on site likely to start in early 2020.

Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM driven), SCL tunnels/adits, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, utilities diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

Security Vetting: HS2 requires SCS to undertake security vetting on all staff to the UK Government Baseline Personal Security Standard. All successful candidates will be subject to this vetting procedure as part of the on-boarding process.
What will I be doing?

Role

To support the design, delivery and measurement of social value and community investment outcomes on the SCS HS2 Main Works contract This role will actively take part in all social value activity ensuring high quality social initiatives that provide economic benefits to the communities we work alongside.

This role will be required to work alongside the Skills, Employment and Education (SEE), Community Engagement and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) teams to support activities within the community

The role is part of the wider Social Sustainability team that aims to create a skilled and diverse workforce and to leave a long lasting and sustainable legacy for the local communities

Key Responsibilities
  • To support the data collection and data entry of social value activity on the SCS programme
  • To support the Community and SEE teams in the organisation of community investment programmes across London
  • To support the delivery of social employment schemes and initiatives
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of engagement activities with identified providers if required
  • Support the co-ordination of social sustainability training and events programmes
  • Support the promotion of events and case studies both internally and externally
  • Promote Equality, Diversity and inclusion in all aspects of delivery

About you

We're looking for:
  • Demonstrate an understanding and passion for supporting communities and young people
  • Good organisational skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of social value
  • PC Literate with experience of Microsoft Office
  • A passionate individual looking to undertake an apprenticeship with an award-winning employer
  • An organised individual that can work well to deadlines
  • Someone who can multi-task and prioritise
  • Someone with a keen interest in the latest technology
  • Someone that enjoys challenges in their day to day work
  • Has the equivalent of 5 GCSEs, grades A*-C or 9-4, including Maths, Science and English

You're good at:
  • Communicating clearly, both written and verbally
  • Getting it right the first time, with good attention to detail
  • Works well within a team, but equally on your own
  • Using a computer and Microsoft software
