We are looking to hire a highly skilled and motivated person to develop robust transportation capabilities for the delivery of specialty shipments across Europe. This role is all about creating a robust supply chain with internal and external Carriers, ensuring a smooth and efficient delivery process as a platform for sustainable growth and significant scaling of the business. Reporting to the Head of Direct Fulfillment for Europe, as a Program Manager, you will be a key contributor to the future technology roadmap and long term vision of Direct Fulfillment within Amazon's Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team. In addition to general management of Carriers and Carrier operations, the position will be responsible for exploring strategic and tactical scenarios, designing solutions, developing business cases, and managing complex projects as part of continuously improving the efficiency of transportation network.
To be successful in this role, you need an aptitude for making data-driven decisions that will have direct impact on the customer experience. Our environment is deadline driven, fast paced, and requires you to be detail-oriented and comfortable interacting and working with multiple teams (business and technical). Key to your success, therefore, will be the ability to lead through influence across various stakeholder groups. Most critical will be the ability to operate at a bigger picture and tactical level in designing operations and improvement programs, while simultaneously ensuring rigor in operational execution as a key member of the EU team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Design and build a transportation capacity strategy with a 1-2 year horizon.
· Cross-functional work with the Amazon XL (AMXL), Supply Chain, Warehouses and the Retail organizations to determine future demand for Transportation resources. Translate the aforementioned into accurate capacity plans and drive market strategy and budget planning along with senior Finance partners.
· Responsible for Carrier Allocation to secure sufficient capacity especially for Prime week and Peak season and drive overall success on safety, reliability and delivery accuracy, cost, services, safety.
· Key Performance Indicator (KPI) owner: Ensure that DF shipments are delivered to the end customer On Time, In Full and Invoiced Correctly (OTIFIC) according to the agreed performance standards
· Logistics Service Provider (LSP) Management: Serve as Control Tower to oversee LSP performance.
· Shared Service Team (SST) Engagement: Coordinate with internal support teams such as Transportation Execution (TREX), AMXL, Enhanced Vendor Services (EVS) etc. that represent Amazon in direct interactions with carriers and customers. Build processes and tools to enable scalable and flexible operations.
· EU Retail & AMXL Collaboration: Work closely with Vendor-facing teams & AMXL to meet and improve the internal SLAs between EU DF and these internal organizations. Identify and solve conflicts with customer-obsession, frugality and a data-driven mindset.
· Service expansion: Work with DF Global Product and Capability teams to evaluate, develop, or support new product/service programs that add value to customers and Amazon business teams.
· Cost Reduction: Identify and drive cost reduction opportunities via improved LSP efficiency and reduced operational cost and charges. Drive tech solutions to reduce dependencies on variable labor cost. Consistently benchmark across lead time, cost and sustainability (emissions) to determine the best options for DF routings and shipments.
· Risk Management: Develop plans to smooth peak period operations. Identify at-risk parts of the operations and develop/execute contingency protocols to avoid service failures.
· Performance Management: Maintain accurate reporting on key market and Carrier metrics. Prepare and lead regular business reviews with internal stakeholders and Leaders (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Business Reviews)
· Process: Take ownership for the development and Continuous Improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines and new processes mapping and engage all key stakeholders to ensure end-to-end alignment and effective hand-offs between parties.
· Process: Own continuous improvement initiatives carriers, and operations to improve safety, cost efficiency, reliability, high standard service and sustainability.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Mathematics or similar field
· Managerial experience preferably in a similar transportation role or in a planning, finance, logistics/transportation leadership role, with proven track record for delivering results.
· Fluency in English is required, with a good command on written English, narrative style preferred
· Proven track record of managing Carriers and third party logistics providers to drive their performance.
· Negotiations/logistics procurement skills/tender management experience
· Proven analytical thinking, data management, ability to convert strategy to operation, continuous improvement capability, sensitivity to details, and exceptional organizational skills.
· Demonstrated experience in performing complex analysis and solving complex problems
· Comfortable with ambiguity, conflicting priorities and multi-cultural and matrix environment. Work under pressure and aggressive timelines
· Advanced computer proficiency in Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications
· Advanced degree - MBA, MSC in supply chain, business administration, finance, or similar field would be advantageous
· Experience with Amazon Transportation, Supply Chain, Operations or Procurement
· Familiarity with the European transportation market.
· Proficient in data analysis and its tools such as SQL and VBA to manage large set of data.
