Is your head bursting with brilliant and innovative story ideas to really grip the nation? Do you have excellent writing skills and a keen eye for accuracy and detail? Emmerdale are looking for an experienced storyliner to support the Story Producer and Producers in creating and delivering our dynamic and innovative storylines. 


The Storyliner will join our editorial department, helping to create and produce storylines to the highest possible standard. You will take notes from the Producer, and redraft storylines appropriately, as well as assisting our writers, script editors and production team. You will need to have a keen passion for Emmerdale, a flair for creative writing and love working in a tight knit team. 


Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute ideas to Story conferences and Story talk throughs.

  • Create and structure dynamic and compelling storylines.

  • Work to the Producers brief, implementing and editing storylines to a shared vision.

  • Liaising with writers/script editors as and when required.

  • Assessing research/cast availability and production requirements in accordance with producing storylines.


To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • At least 6 months previous Story Editing, Storylining or writing experience on a long running continuing drama.

  • An understanding of character, story and structure and the ability to write clearly and concisely in keeping with the Emmerdale house style and the audience’s needs. 

  • Planning and organisation – the ability to think ahead and establish a course of action for self and others.

  • Strong decision making and editorial judgement and ready and able to take initiative.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent writing skills and a good eye for spelling and detail.

  • Thorough knowledge and passion for Emmerdale.
