Main purpose of the role:

To provide expert up-to-date technical knowledge and to specify practical, cost-effective working solutions that get the best out of the infrastructure technology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Infrastructure:

§ Retain and maintain a thorough knowledge of infrastructure systems and procedures plus any integrations/links with other IT systems and external data sources

§ Project delivery that includes any system upgrades and enabling enhanced functionality - working collaboratively with all colleagues throughout all stages of implementation through to user acceptance and ongoing support and maintenance

§ Observing good data governance, system controls and documentation as per the firm's policies

§ Ensuring that system setup, configuration records and processes are documented and kept up to date

§ Consulting with Enterprise and Solution Architects to ensure development projects confirm to architectural standards

§ Consulting with the Information Security Officer to ensure that any proposed software developments or changes do not compromise the security of the firm's data

§ Liaising with external providers to resolve any issues in the functionality and interoperability of applications, infrastructure and other services with existing IT systems

§ Participating in 8am to 8pm Service Delivery service provision shifts as necessary

§ Participating in 8pm to 8am Service Delivery Out-of-Hours Support (OHS) service provision team(s) as an OHS consultant
To create and develop (or assist in creation/development) the documentation relating to the infrastructure changes


Key Skills and Experience:

§ Specific expertise in, but not limited to core technologies, tools or solutions:

o VMWare vSphere suite; VCenter upgrade and ESXi management. This may include training of various members of staff to use the later web based client.

o Configuration of Firewalls (Cisco predominantly) and switches. To include creating and amending rules.

o Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and migration to the platform from on premises.

o Ensuring the health of Active Directory and deployment of Domain Controllers, DNS and DHCP configuration.

o Experience of deploying and maintaining Windows servers.

o Documenting any changes to the infrastructure as well as creating technical design documentation. This will also include creating documentation to request approval for changes to made in line with the change control process.

o Knowledge of Solarwinds, NPA and NPM.

o Exchange 2016 knowledge, to include administration, migration and monitoring.

o Configuration and monitoring of Aruba WiFi installations.

o Working knowledge of storage management tasks in relation to VMWare datastores and EMC SAN configuration.

o Any SQL experience would also be beneficial.

§ Must have demonstrated competency in an infrastructure role involving maintaining and improving existing IT/Information systems, solutions and services along with the successful execution of multiple projects for new systems, solutions and services

§ Excellent planning and organisational skills, including attention to detail

§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical people at all levels

§ Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to absorb new information quickly

§ Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving marketplace

§ Ability to adapt to various internal and external situations and deliver high quality service

§ Team player, providing support to colleagues and managers and working with teams across the firm

§ Experience of working within a matrix organisation, including reporting into a number of people including technical line managers and project managers

§ Evidence demonstrating ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure of deadlines including expertise in prioritising competing workloads

Standard hours of work are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch (35 hours per week).
