We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Secretary post within the Upper GI Secretarial team based at the City Hospital. This is a full time post - 37.5hrs per week, 9am to 5pm.

As part of a team you will be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of clinical correspondence for the Specialty. You will need to ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales. Completing or escalating actions as required.

You will need to be a fast and accurate audio typist with a sound knowledge of medical terminology. You will also be able to prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands, to meet agreed deadlines. Use your own initiative and respond to queries within and outside of the Organisation with a professional manner to patients, relatives and staff.

You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure.

You must have RSA III word processing or equivalent experience, be educated to GCSE standard and have experience in the use of computer systems including Microsoft packages, Winscribe, Medway PAS, and NOTIS.

I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
  • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
