  • Part time 3 to 4 days per week

Once you've joined the firm you will have access to training, giving you the opportunity to upskill yourself on our various systems. You'll also benefit from additional support designed to help you integrate into the firm and connect and build relationships with other flexible workers across our network.

At Operate, we are significantly growing our Data Science and machine learning practice to support the firm in meeting new market demands and opportunities. As such, we are now looking to recruit Data Analysts to join our Managed Data Services at Operate team. As an experienced data practitioner, you will play a significant role in the development of our services, allowing you to work with a varied client base, gain valuable exposure to cutting edge technologies and help shape what we deliver as managed services in the areas of General Data, Data Science and Data Visualisation.

The Data Science team will take the information prepared by the downstream Data team and will do basic to complex calculations in order to uncover actionable insights. Data Scientists employ traditional statistical methods and unconventional machine learning techniques for making predictions. Data Analysts prepare more advanced types of analysis. Finally Machine Learning Engineers apply state-of-the-art computational models.

Your Responsibilities:

You'll bring your extensive industry experience to lead a team of junior problem solvers. You will be designing strategies and working through to execution, whilst solving complex business issues. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Coding, testing, debugging and deploying scripting solutions using Python, SQL, and JavaScript
  • Understanding business and technical requirements; develop, document and implement solution design
  • Forging and building new relationships throughout Operate to ensure the visibility of the Technology team's production capability
  • Hands on delivery of solutions throughout the entire life cycle, including day-to-day management of ongoing engagements
  • Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed functional, technical and performance requirements
  • Contribute to the development of your own and team's technical acumen
  • Assisting in upskilling your team and ensuring successful delivery
  • Liaising with operational/executive level grades

Essential Requirements:
  • Relevant industry experience, preferably in an IT-related discipline
  • Solid analytical skills with experience in problem solving and being able to implement and deliver solutions
  • Experience of working with clients to understand, refine and execute technology-enabled change projects.
  • Background in collaborative working with other creative and passionate data engineers
  • Solid understanding of working methodologies such as Agile, and Waterfall.
  • Willingness to expand technical knowledge in a broad range of client facing projects
  • Proven capability to communicate verbally and in writing with stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • Extensive and varied experience in data handling, manipulation and reporting including advanced level of understanding in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of best practice in data visualisation and presentation
  • Experience using Python/R, SQL, Google App Script/JavaScript and visual basic, or comparable
  • Experience with SSIS ETL (Integration Services), SSRS (Reporting Services), and SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).
  • MDX experience.
  • A broad understanding of the values of Business Intelligence.
  • Data warehouse methodology experience.

Desirable Requirements:
  • Tableau, Microstrategy, Qlikview or comparable
  • Experience with self-service data analytics platforms such as Alteryx or comparable
  • Experience with languages such as Python, R, SQL, Google App Script/JavaScript or Visual Basic
  • Exposure to any elements of Artificial Intelligence such as Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning
  • Alteryx certifications
  • DevOps experience
  • Knowledge of Data Analytical tools (Alteryx Designer and Alteryx Server)
