Facebook is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager who can move fast and learn quickly to help solve technical accounting issues for emerging significant, non-routine, and unique transactions. As a Manager you will be responsible for understanding the finer details of proposed or executed transactions through review of available contracts and agreements and collaboration with key cross-functional business partners. You will leverage your experience researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and recommend accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions. Your ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, concisely, effectively, and simply will inform all key stakeholders of the accounting and business implications of transactions, particularly those with limited or no accounting background. You will also embrace ambiguity and Facebook's move fast culture by prioritising responsibilities based on impact and transition well between various accounting topics often bridging between IFRS and US GAAP, which may include areas such as: revenue recognition, leasing, uncertain tax positions, business combinations, intercompany transactions, financial instruments, contingencies, and many more. This role will be based in Dublin, where you will report to the Head of IFRS Technical Accounting and interface with our technical accounting team located in Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. You will work closely with the statutory accounting operations teams and tax teams in Dublin, Singapore and our various international offices.

Required Skills

  • Interpret IFRS accounting standards and legal entity reporting requirements to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and/or complex, unusual transactions or agreements often bridging any differences with US GAAP
  • Prepare or review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions
  • Collaborate closely with statutory accounting operations, tax and other finance functions, key business stakeholders, local accountants and external auditors to support the preparation and review of precedent setting accounting positions, policies, and financial statements
  • Provide insight on or prepare new or existing accounting policies based on industry standards and best practices
  • Monitor, understand and provide interpretation of new and proposed accounting pronouncements under IFRS to assist key stakeholders in assessing financial, operational and reporting implications
  • Actively participate or assist with external facing stakeholder activities such as attending accounting conferences, industry roundtables and/or standard setting working groups
  • Facilitate trainings on relevant accounting topics to Facebook personnel

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor or higher degree in accounting or finance
  • ACA, CPA or equivalent qualification with solid IFRS experience and at least a working knowledge of US GAAP

Preferred Qualification

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in researching and documenting new accounting guidance and the accounting treatment of issues
  • Experience working through ambiguity to communicate clear accounting positions and operational solutions
