About the team:

Our team has primary operating centers in Edinburgh (UK), Delaware (US), Gurgaon (India), and Singapore. Our objective is to lead and provide a world-class Corporate Action service through the application of governance and controls crafted to mitigate risk to the Firm and our Clients. The team operates as a single, global entity crafted around a robust and mature "pass-the-book" philosophy allowing the effective and controlled transition of work across our primary locations.

BlackRock's proprietary operating platform is Aladdin. Within Aladdin, there are a number of applications including the Corporate Actions Manager (CAM) which facilitates and supports workflow throughout the event life cycle!

About the role:

The successful candidate will be part of a growing team. The role will be commensurate with our primary objectives to ensure all Corporate Event-related activity within our portfolio universe is captured, validated, elected (voluntaries), and any subsequent entitlements, cash, or stock are accurately processed and received timely. Responsibilities will extend to the management of asset restrictions throughout the event life cycle and liaison with BlackRock's Global Custodian network.

Your day will look like:

Ensure all corporate action events, including income events, are captured, and validated. Interact with Portfolio Management Groups to ensure all vital elections are received and acted upon. Ensure all vital corporate action instructions are issued and acknowledged by custodians and counterparties.

Every day ensure that all corporate action events across all markets and asset types (equities, fixed income, and derivatives) are accurately processed, reviewed, and reconciled as vital in accordance with procedures and event deadlines.

Supervise the Corporate Actions Manager (CAM) throughout the business day and, team members, effectively manage processing volumes over future periods. Investigate reconciliation exceptions daily ensuring all discrepancies are resolved and cleared at the earliest opportunity.

The appropriate restriction status of entitlements is maintained in BlackRock applications through interaction with custodians and updates. Manage any queries received from various internal and external parties. Interact with other BlackRock teams and the third parties/custodians as appropriate.

Advance all material risk items and service issues to your Team Leader/Manager on a timely basis. Communication with Team Leaders and managers to facilitate and support the team structure. Participate in local, regional, and global initiatives/projects in conjunction with the Global Corporate Actions team.

About you:

You have a demonstrated ability in a Corporate Action operations role and have a strong understanding of investment or brokerage operations. You should be able to demonstrate participation in organizational change through project work or driving other process efficiencies.

A good understanding of stock lending and settlement impacts on corporate action elections and allocations is a must. The candidate is encouraged to have a sophisticated understanding of procedures, events, and market practices.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Acute attention to detail and understanding of the impacts on downstream processes.
  • Possess strong risks inherent and demonstrate good discipline around risk mitigation and escalation.
Proficiencies:
  • Candidates should possess a high level of self-motivation and adaptability.
  • Demonstrate an affinity for teamwork and contribute as a partner within a distributed team.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate constructively at all levels.
  • Be highly organized, and focused with practiced skills in operating effectively to tight deadlines within a high-risk and high-volume environment.
  • Data Analytics abilities preferred; coding knowledge (VBA, SQL, PYTHON, RPA) will be a plus.
